*Official* Australia in India - ODIs

What's with Australian cricketers and blondes? Not that I'm complaining, but it looks like a barbie parade everytime I see a bunch of them.
I always think it looks amusing with the blokes who aren't blond and good-looking themselves. Some of them seem to match, some of them look a bit odd together. :)

Nightmare for Australia, that. Their injury situation is terrible right now.

Who will get called up, Nannes? Or will they go for a youngster?
Nathan Rimmington

No it would have to be either of the Vics Nannes or McKay.

Brett Dorey is a handy ODI cricketer, but I get the feeling that the selectors will not go back to him as he looked pretty plain when he played for Australia back in 05/06.

Oz paying the penalty for agreeing to a money series when they should be at home preparing for another summer of cricket
Indeed. The poorly structured ICC really needs to get a grip of scheduling in world cricket. This series has now become a farce with AUS basing losing half of its best players.

The ICC needs revamping for the good of the game.

Absolutely, otherwise we'll see more and more injuries, and less and less full strength sides going head to head.

However, I do like seeing some of the fringe players have the opportunity to impress and assess the potential below the starting XI. Shaun Marsh impressed in the IPL, but tomorrow is another opportunity for him to excel in an ODI. Also, have not seen a great deal of Henriques, but would like the opportunity to see his (and Voges) credentials at the top level.

Exactly my feelings. Wouldn't mind calling both over and sending Hilfy on the plane back as well.

Left-field pick - Ben Cutting. Haven't seen him before so don't know how consistent he is but even at low-130's in pace, was making the Tassie batters hop quite a bit, moving the ball away really nicely too. Jack's played with him I think. What's your take?

Only possible reason for the series being played IMO

Aussies have basically been playing for the last 12 months already and we're about to enter another home summer

Should really have sent a B side and let the senior players have a bit of a rest

Whatever it takes!!!
Oz paying the penalty for agreeing to a money series when they should be at home preparing for another summer of cricket
still refusing to acknowledge the fact that Aus and India have split their ODI and test tours to different years for a number of years now..

Juz ignoring facts to have a rant, I see.. :)

Conveniently ignoring the fact that the ODI and Test legs of the Aussie tour to India have been played in different years for a while now...

This is a scheduled bi-lateral part of the FTP ODI series between two of the top cricketing nations in the world.. If the scheduling was wrong, it was to do with what went on before and after this series... The only problem I have with this series is I think 7 ODI series are always boring, even if it goes down to 4-3... But apart from the fact that I would have had this as a 5 match series (indeed, any other ODI series too, for that matter), I don't see why you guys should be cribbing as if this series never meant anything.. It is not our fault if the Aussies cant be fit enough. Remember most of the Indians are coming off similar, if not even more hectic, schedules before this and were fine for the most part.

This bashing of this series is getting ridiculous now.

Probably already mentioned here, but can India take over the #1 ranking if they win the series? And if so, does the margin of victories matter?

Which conveniently ignores the FACT that Oz have been playing non-stop cricket for the better part of the last 12 months, have another 6 months in front of them and are dropping like nine-pins

The ONLY reason this series has been scheduled is because it is the highest grossing one on the calendar

Yes but this one is clearly totally all about the money.

The TVS Cup 2003 was played & the 2004 test series came after.

The 07 ODIs series was followed by the 08 test series.

AUS aren't touring IND next year, they probably wont be back until 2012. So this series is clearly a waste of time for both teams since AUS after the Champions trophy should have been home preparing for a home summer which is already hectic. The same for IND.

I believe this series was announced only this year. After AUS left IND last year after the test, no one was expecting this series to occur at all since AUS clearly didn't need to go back to IND so quick. This series was always overall of IND v AUS matches.

7 match ODI should be abolished. If the ICC was a proper governing body this would have happened already.

I personally have no problem with the two best ODI teams in the world going at it. But clearly both AUS & IND have ridiculously packed schedules & a limit needs to happen to prevent such injuries & player burnoyt. IND could have had massive injuries as well - but the fact that AUS have now got so much the series has become a farce unless the fringe players REALLY shock IND.

This WAS part of the FTP which was drawn up well in advance........ The BCCI made it perfectly clear that they and CA want Aus-Ind series to happen almost every year, ODIs in one year and tests in another and one home and other away... The fact that Aussies have been playing non-stop around this series means the others are the ones that should have been planned out in different ways, not this one..

As I said, facts being ignored conveniently for the sake of ranting.

EDIT: @Aussie... Same reply applies to your post too, I think.

Firstly... This series is no more pointless than the 7 ODIs vs. England. But Aust were winning that one so that's cool.

Secondly, I didn't realise Tim Paine and James Hopes had been playing non-stop. They were clearly tired from the 5 test matches they played, plus the Champions League of course.

That Ashes series must have been a bit of a burden on Brett Lee as well.

Oh wait...

As i just said i dont believe after the test series between these sides last year - that this series was drawn up since then. The ODI series before the 08 test series had occured in 2007 - this series was always all about the money.

Unfortuantely yes. This is why is the ICC itself needs revamping boards shouldn't be making these decisions.

No this one shouldn't have happened, since as i explained above AUS didn't need to come back to IND for another ODI series again. All the other series AUS had played this year was on the FTP except the PAK series in UAE which was rescheduled for obvious reasons.

So which other series should have been rescheduled to accommodate this monumentally important one?

The Ashes?

Oz in SA?

The Champions Trophy?

The entire Oz summer of cricket?

Obviously, all should've been scrapped so that Oz could arrive in India for this series in tip top condition
