Reckon Paine will move down the order if he, Marsh and Watson all play in the same team. Would prefer if Voges slotted straight into the 6 spot though now that I think about it. Paine/Watson are both in reasonably good form, and given both are certainties to be in the team, there's no point messing up the opening combination when Voges is a better ODI batsmen than Marsh imo
I just don't understand what made them go back to Marsh, when the opening combination of Paine and Watto were doing a decent job, on top of that the way Paine bats, he would be nothing short of a liability in the middle order, as its not really his forte to play the big shots.
Also very disappointed with the news that Fregie is gonna be out with an injury for almost 12 months, he was well on his way to establish himself in the ODI side, but the timing of his injury couldn't have been worse, hopefully someone else steps up in his absence.
Has there been any info about Michael Clarke's back? It doesn't seem good that it's gone on so long.
Said this during the CT and would say this again, I think he has just been dropped from the ODI side and its as simple as that, I can't believe that a stiff back caused by long flight could force a player out for this long, anyways whichever way you look at it, its good riddance from Aussie perspective.
Haven't seen anything of Holland personally, but I guess it's not that big of a surprise to see him in the squad given the selectors propensity to give every spinner with an FC match under their belt a run over the past 2/3 years.
Holland is not the worst spinner going around in Australia atm, but he has hardly played any games at the domestic level, and I think its way too early to push him into international cricket.
Anyways, this will be my XI for the first game:
1.S.Marsh
2.S.Watson
3.R.Ponting
4.C.White
5.M.Hussey
6.A.Voges
7.T.Paine
8.M.Johnson
9.B.Lee
10.N.Hauritz
11.P.Siddle
Its pretty likely to be the XI for the first game, and the batting clearly looks pretty thin, and with the inclusion of Marsh the team combination too gets messed up, Hopes who could prove to be more than a handy contributor in Indian conditions is most likely to miss out, also in case either Voges or White struggle with the bat, or one of the batsmen get injured then we clearly don't have a reserve batsman to fill in for them.
