True, they have Saviour-of-NZ-cricket #486 Hamish Rutherford
Hasn't been billed as the saviour yet. Still have Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, Trent Boult and a couple of others to get through first. :p

Backing him to get to at least 20 before he either gets beaten or does something silly, but here's hoping the dude can do well in front of an international audience.

Nice start.

Dumb, dumb, dumb running. Third man never even spilled it, FFS. That's suicidal - no matter how quick you are.

Poor run.

Not quite over yet. McCullum isn't that great of a 20/20 batsman, but yes Otago are deep in the poos. Early wickets really aren't helping. Cumming, Rutherford and Broom need to step up. With any luck Otago will receive a captains knock.

If McCullum isn't good at 20/20 cricket then what is he good at?

His best form of the game is 20/20, no doubt about that.

Can only laugh really. In a *sigh*ing sort of way.

Cumming has been decent for Otago in domestic 2020s but is he really capable of scoring fast enough to keep up with this asking rate?

ODIs imo.

Rutherford mainly dealing in boundaries here. If he gets a fifty will he open the batting for us against a top team?

Always love how NZ fans go from saying how someone is such an awesome player to ripping him to pieces. I mean here we have the media to build 'em up and knock 'em down, but the fans are usually consistently deluded one way or the other.

Cumming is a solid domestic journeyman but he's proven in the two limited overs formats he's no slouch. He's not amazing but he's a pretty reliable domestic player.

Rutherford gone. Probably game gone with that third wicket.

Broom to score a century in a non Black Caps match. :p

Hell, might as well pick Wagner to score a century.

Zondeki and other unknowns have chances of being taken by one of the IPL teams for sure next year. The quality foreign players will only get better and so will the competition IMO.
