Looks like all of the games this week might get good weather, yes even teh one in manchester is set to be uninterrupted...will be an interesting relegation fight.

Interesting finish to the Championship in terms of relegation and promotion. A 15 point cushion between Sussex and the teams above them means that they need to win to stay up, and even then it might not be enough. Anyone know if Sky are planning to show one of the crunch games? They have done in the last few seasons.

Sky is showing the promotion battle in Division 2 between Derbyshire and Essex. Should be a cracker. Derby unbeaten at home for the last two years, think I'm right in saying.

Warwickshire are five down now, looks like Sussex might be spending next year smashing sides like Leicestershire every week.

Great spell from Chappel!

Not a bad start for Hoggy either, 3 overs, 3 maidens and 2 wickets. :)

Smith now in on the act. :D

Hants going along Ok at 80/0, well on their way to the three points which guarentees survival, a good season on the whole, made so by the FP trophy win, fairly average in the four day game but we have done enough.

Code:
Teams Mat	Won	Lost	Tied	Draw	Aban	Pts
Hampshire	15	3	3	0	9	0	158
Yorkshire	15	2	2	0	11	0	156
Lancashire	15	3	2	0	10	0	154
Sussex 15	2	5	0	8	0	139
Lancashire v Warwickshire at Manchester
Sep 23-26 (10:30 local, 09:30 GMT)
Notts v Sussex at Nottingham
Sep 23-26 (10:30 local, 09:30 GMT)
Yorkshire v Hampshire at Leeds
Sep 23-26 (10:30 local, 09:30 GMT)

So just to summarise:

If Hampshire get 3 points they're safe.
If Yorkshire get 6 points they're safe (tie-breakers would work against them).
If Lancashire get 7 points they're safe.

Sussex need to win and get as many bonus points as possible. For each point out of the maximum of 22 they drop that's one less the other sides need to reach survival.
Update on this...

Hampshire are safe. They secured 4 batting points.
Yorkshire took maximum bowling points and will be safe if they score 300 (within 120 overs) in their first innings.
Lancashire secured maximum bowling points and need 350 to be safe, they're currently 231-4 and in a good position to win anyway

Sussex managed maximum bowling points and are 112-2, they really need to score 400+ and hope Hampshire bowl Yorkshire out cheaply.

Yeah not lookig good for Sussex at the moment, would expect Yorkshire to get 300 against our current bowling attack.

Too many limited overs specialists down at Hove? Or has one-day success taken the eye off the main prize? Or is it the loss of Adams & Mushy?

The public demands answers! :p

They certainly would have got nowhere near the Championship without Mushy. But they wouldn't have been relegation material either.

The whole system is so tight though. Apart from Durham and Worcs, all the teams are on pretty much the same playing level. It's a question of the odd session or great bowling performance. So it's not a complete disaster IMO. Lancs could just have easily have been sent down. Warwickshire are staying up with a dire bowling attack. It's so difficult to make concrete judgements.

Far too many draws this season, something needs to be done about it because at the moment a side can stay up drawing nearly all their matches by scoring 400 each week on flat pitches.
