Fulton at six? Last time that happened, that was the start of him going crap.

Broom ain't a one dimensional hitter and in fact he's not great at List A at all. Really going by his records he should be a test reserve batsman and kept well away from ODIs, or at worst bat him in the top five. I think like big Jake, because Broom is capable of smashing the ball people assume thats what he'll do and thats all he'll do from ball one. Both players like to play themselves in then hit the ball only when its in their zone, otherwise they just play like normal batsmen. Yes Oram got that 101* but he was in the form of his life and the Australians kept putting it in his big six zones, so they got what was coming to them.

What we need is a list of the number sixes in the country. Putting the third best number four or someone will just epic fail, as Flynn and Broom have shown us. Whoever it is can bat at seven behind Oram (seriously, Oram at seven won't help his form at all: "Hey Jake, you're not seeing the ball very well, why don't you got out in over 45 and have a slog, btw, we need a run rate of six per over so no pressure."

The only number sixes/sevens I can think of atm are Anaru Kitchen and Tim Weston. I can't recall where McGlashan batted for ND but he'd be a decent choice. Franklin was a number five in List A wasn't he? (He'd also love Colombo under lights when bowling)
Ideally I'd swap Franklin into the team probably for Oram, but he takes at least an over to really get his eye in too.

And unlike Oram he can bowl, is a wonderful foil to Bond. Probably our best though always loses a bit when the pressures down at the other end.

I think the criticism of Oram's bowling in ODI's is pretty harsh to be honest. His bowling in test matches and T20's is fodder, but ODI's he is generally pretty tight and does a good job. His batting however has gone down hill dramatically in all 3 forms.

No sorry - haven't got the time to do it any more.

If someone with better computing skills knew how to get it into a web based format that can be easily tied into excel etc then I guess it may return some day.
Give me a shout via MSN or email if you're interested Marc :)

No. I agree, its clearly not about the LCD. Its more about the copious amounts of LSD that you appear to have consumed.

Yeah, I'm a pretty big Franklin fan but I'd much rather have Oram even as just a bowler alone than Franklin in the middle overs of ODIs. If you need someone to open the bowling or even bowl first change it's obviously different story, but we're talking about batting 6 or 7 and bowling in the 15-40 over block.. I think Oram's more suited to that than Jimmy.

As for Broom being ****, that's complete BS.
He's just playing in the wrong format, ideally he should be in the Test team/squad as he has a decent as FC record.
Broom >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Oram (in FC/Tests )

Who should go @ 6? I reckon Shanan Stewart would be a good shout, last season he got 376 runs @ 41.77 at almost a run a ball (SR 99.20).
He had a pretty good hit out against the (fairly crap to be honest) England Lions when they were down here too.

1st unofficial ODI: New Zealand A v England Lions at Palmerston North, Mar 14, 2009 | Cricket Scorecard | Cricinfo.com
Only T20 Match: New Zealand A v England Lions at New Plymouth, Mar 19, 2009 | Cricket Scorecard | Cricinfo.com

BJ Watling could also be a candidate with his good A tour form.

Or, we could move down an opener and blood Peter Ingram
Or even Aaron Redmond
