Surprised no one mentions a knock from Bevan. He's had several knocks to save our (Australia's) ass through the years. Last WC I remember two great knocks againts England and NZ when we looked in deep shyte. Not 100s though.
These are probably his best official knocks:

Though unofficial, anyone who witnessed his 185* against the Asia XI would find it hard to not rate that as his best. Here are the highlights:

I did have that in mind. But one can only choose 11. Also Ponting's century was scored in a one sided affair. Charles Coventry's 194 * and Tamim Iqbal's Century were great centuries in a closely contested match which Bangladesh eventually won.
Ponting's century made it a one-sided affair.

Robin Smith's knock was amazing, as was Viv's 150 odd at the MCG, and his 170-odd v England where he and Holding put on (IIRC) 100 plus.

salim malik's 72 not out in calcutta in 1987 when he literally won the match in three overs of serious hitting was another great knock. madanl lal, manider and kapil dev in successive overs conceded 53 runs, IIRC, and wasim akram scored three of them. Malik carted the ball around like it was a school game and won the match india was set to win after superb bowling from ravi shastri and an excellent hundred from srikkanth. this innings came witin a year after miandad's last ball six and kind of screwed up the indian team's self confidence for years until sachin and sehwag managed to tilt the scale the other way a decade or so later.

As soon as I saw the thread title I thought about Gibbs's innings against Aus in 2006.

What a knock.

Dave Callaghan's 167* against New Zealand in '94 at Centurion should also perhaps get a mention. Apart from that innings he never got more than 50 in an ODI.

Brian Lara's century against SA in the quarterfinals of the '96 World Cup was also a phenomenal knock.

Mark Waugh played some beauties in his time. But they all ended up being overshadowed by Steve's in the Super 8's game in the 1999 World Cup.

One of the ones I remember vividly is Mahela Jayawardene's match winning 100 against England in Australia. It was famously the game where Murali got called for chucking by umpire Emerson and Ranatunga took his players off the field. Think Sri Lanka were chasing a big total as well, over 300 and given what had happened earlier in the day, it was a remarkable innings.
