Roma had the same punishment, appealed, was reduced but upheld. 1 transfer window for tapping up Mexes.

Reckon FIFA could argue that restriction of trade doesnt apply, or at least argue its not too excessive. They are being limited to entering a competition with existing resources only. No restriction on them actually playing football, no restriction on them selling players and making money if they deem, no restriction on advertising, sales, winnings etc. Chelsea have broken the rules laid down for entering a competition, they are still allowed to compete but with a limitation that does limit their potential to improve, but not significantly limit their operations as a football team. As a business they are not limited, as they can still transact, however just cannot enter these transactions as part of a FIFA competition.

Teams go into transfer embargos when they are in administration all the time, dunno if that's relevant but it just crossed my mind

End of the day, players CAN sign, just wont want to as they fancy playing a bit of decent football.

Its no much a restriction on trade as being a bit **** is, or being in the North East (tm Gareth Southgate, Roy Keane et al)

Dunno really. I don't rate either of them particularly, Mikel is guaranteed to foul a hell of a lot and spend large amounts of the season suspended. Whereas Anderson is guaranteed to go missing for large amounts of matches.

I don't rate either of them particularly highly. Just I got caught in a typical Chelsea fan v United fan argument over the 2 players.

Should have told them that they were both crap imo.
I eventually told them that Song is the best player in the Premiership.
Had no effect because they were too busy arguing Rooney v Drogba, Anelka v Berbatov, Evra v Cole etc etc

Anelka is one of those strikers who goes missing for long stretches of the season, his goals always come in spurts. Plus he can't head the ball for toffee.

If you're only going to have one trick, pace isn't a bad one to have, but Drogba by miles for me.
