Hmm, maybe not then. Might just stick to neutrality, unless you have any other team you'd like to see rocked by a scandal?
Nah. Support who you like mate. Poverty Bay are a decent team. Let's face it, most Rugby League teams would be over-the-moon at only having to deal with one major scandal a season; so Poverty Bay are comparatively clean.

Gee thats appalling to hear about the actions of that Poverty Bay player, deserves every second of his eight year sentence.

Hope you enjoy the games this weekend Heath, that Waikato vs Hawkes Bay game should be a particularly good match to be at.

I couldn't believe that story. It really is a Once Were Warriors style scandal. It made me feel a bit sick reading about it. Being found with his wife's blood over him when arrested. And what makes me feel even worse about it was that this was how he celebrated a win! And he admitted he'd been systematically abusing her on a monthly basis... How did he react to loss?

Looking forward to the rugby. Te Kuiti should be a blast. I believe Waikato's team sheet is looking a bit spartan.

A couple of really good tight matches so far this round, as well as a woeful effort from Counties Manukau. At times they played like they deserved to be in the Heartland Championship, and really their tries were mere consolation. Credit to Wellington for putting them away after last week's disaster, Hosea Gear in particularly benefitting with four tries. In the other game tonight a good comeback from Taranaki after Harbour threw away yet another halftime lead, and a determined effort last night from Northland to cling on against Southland - though with a proper goalkicker (Kendrick Lynn and their new first five missed five from five) Southland should really have won with ease.

My best week so far, and could've been better had I chosen Waikato, who I picked on the Virtual Rugby but not here, to beat Hawkes Bay. Voltman scores only 7 but still leads by 2 over Brumby.

Had a great weekend of provincial rugby. The highlight being the Heartlands game at Te Kuiti.

King Country vs. Thames Valley in Te Kuiti belied the two teams' 2nd division status when compared to the first match I saw (Taranaki vs North Harbour). A few high balls were kicked, but each one was taken. The handling errors would have been in single figures if it wasn't for Valley's #14, whose handling brought the comment "I've seen better hands on a clock!" from a local spectator. The atmosphere was great, with an open backed truck as the "King Country Supporters Club" featured a large PA with an equally large maori dude taking the piss from it.

The first half was fairly even, but the turning point proved to be the 36 minute yellow carding of the Valley #5. He was later sent off with about 10 minutes left on the clock for rucking a King Country player who was no where near the ball.

At 9 - 6 at half time, King Country scored twice at the start of the 2nd, and bossed the 2nd half to walk away with the win + bonus point.

Oh, and did I hear on the radio that David Holwell, the man, the legend is back from retirement to rescue Northland?

He played the last ten minutes or so of Northland's game against Southland off the bench - replaced Carpenter and played at second five rather than taking over from Munro at flyhalf. Still great to see him back with his vast experience, especially with Justin Collins unlikely to feature at all this season.
