Excited for Bond's return. :)
I'm excited too.

Still, there's so much pressure on him to perform. Everyone seems to expect that he will be immediately back to the Bond we remember from his best spells years ago (and forgetting he had less successful matches and series even then). Personally I'll be happy if he gets through his 4 overs, shows he still has enough pace and decent control, and gets some middling figures like 2/30.

That team is awesome with a capital O. If McGlashan plays and McCullum doesn't keep i'm going to throw a fit.

Broom's record as a Twenty20 cricketer is ridiculously bad. McGlashan hasn't had any success at international level in the format but he least he's done something domestically; Broom's played twenty T20 games now for an average of 13 and a strike rate of 112.

I have no problem with McGlashan replacing Broom in that lineup, as long as McCullum keeps.

Dempster ftw
After twelve Tests, Mathew Sinclair had 946 runs @ 52 with three tons, two of which were doubles, and a First Class record that suggested it was no fluke. I think this proves pretty conclusively that playing ten Tests - as Dempster did - isn't a fair sample size. :p

I voted for Glenn Turner and John Wright. I would have voted for Sutcliffe, but I would have him in the middle order where he averaged 53.60 at number 5, but he only played 8 Tests there compared to the 23 as an opener. Failing that, it is a way of having Turner, Wright, and Sutcliffe in the same team (don't knock me for being creative).

The wicket keeper should be interesting one and whether or not Brendon McCullum would get picked (I'm expecting he will get nominated), but I would be voting for Ian Smith.

Yeah, Sutcliffe batted all over the place but he was an opener - it was common to get moved around during his time due to the effect weather had on pitches. I'd probably squeeze them all in by having either him or Turner in at 3, though.

I see Millmow is one of the jury :puke:
Oh God, that has to be some sort of joke

I'd go with McGlashan over Broom, even though I am a big Broom fan.

Broom's selection in limited overs was a bit of a boob I think. The man has a great First Class record but an average List A one, yet they jam him in the limited overs squad when really he should (maybe) be trying his hand in the Test team @ 6.
It's sort of like Guptill's selection in Tests, solid List A/ODI record but a weak First Class one and he gets fast-tracked into the Test squad.
You'd think Headmaster Ted was running the Black Caps

I reckon they should give someone like Shanan Stewart (or maybe even BJ Watling) a go @ 6 in limited overs.

Difference is judges who watched him spoke extremely highly of him and that he had no weaknesses, unlike smash it through the offside with no foot movement Skippy :p

should a team be chosen on glamour and gleam or facts and figures... I hate how people judge Sinclair like that. regardless of how he looked out in the middle, he still produced some quality figures. commentators and ex players dogged his lack of this and that .. doesn't look like he followed the mcc coaching manual etc.. the sad thing is Sinclair started to let their talk effect his own game. the rest as we know is history..

Mentioning Sinclair in the same breath as Dempster - pathetic.
