the key to match batting?

Okay, well in nets I am a very capable batsmen, I look good technically, and look better than my team mates and friends, but I just can't seem to convert this to matches. In paticular I have a friend/teammate who dosn't look all that capable in nets, but makes 50 after 50 in matches. But when I bat in matches I always get out cheaply. I am an aggresive batsmen, and seem to be able to do it in 20/20 cricket, but when it comes to 50 over cricket, I just can't stay in. I am often out caught, rarely anything else, have NEVER been out LBW after 5 years of playing cricket.
I am mainly a bowler, but have always fancied myself as a batsmen.

I know the thing to do is get my head over the ball and play it along the ground, but it never seems that simple.

Does anyone have any advice for me?

thanks

As you walk out to bat, just as you approach the boundary line from the dressing room, reach into you pocket and pretend you're taking your ego out, and leave it just outside the field of play. Find it amazing how much better I bat when you don't go out there with a pre-determined mind set, but that's probably just me.

Where are you caught?

Is it playing a specific shot?

On one side of the wicket; primarily off the front foot
or back foot?

Off faster or slow bowling?

PS : You dont have to know the exact answers to all of them specifically but at least an idea.

Try visualising where fielders are when you are in the nets, and play shots accordingly. It is easy to bat well in the nets because there is no getting out and no fielders.

It has to be a combination of Mediation, Breathing, Yoga and a Batting Coach.

Meditation will help you get rid of all negativity from your mind.

Enhance your concentration

Deeply Relax

Instill Self Belief doing what you want.

Whatever the Mind Conceives, Believes , it can achieve - It is called the Mirror of Mind.

I can give you a link of Western Meditation Program. But you have to find sources where they teach Breathing Techniques and Yoga Courses.

Batting Coach to iron out your deficiencies.

So go step by step. You should be okay.

Just Think of bottom ranked Bangladesh beating a Full strength Australian team at Cardiff 2005.

How was that possible?Off Course Self Belief not to ignore the Brilliant century of Ashraful.

So mate. Don't worry a bit. Go step by step. You will March on.

Cheers!

Well, its usually on the drive, I often get caught playing half shots, usually middling the ball, Which could be put down to mindless batting I guess, also mid wicket and point are areas I get caught at.

Usually spin, I hate spin, I love pace but in my league most bowlers are just medium pace and spin, rather annoying.

It still isn't much to go bye. If I have to make a guess, I would say you are not gett\ing close to the pitch of the ball. With faster bowlers, if there is no lateral movement, you can get away with it but with spinners you can get caught playing ealy and with your upper body not over the ball.

From the fact that you are caught squarer rather than straighter I would guess you do not have your left shoulder (assuming you are right handed) pointing towards the direction in which you are driving. You could be more square on resulting in the bat face not being fully presented to the line of delivery.

I would think a more top hand grip, side on right through the drive and getting closer to the pitch will help. Playing half-**** was originally used purely for defense and it continues to be a hazard driving in that 'mode' particulatly to slower bowlers or when there is sideways movement.

Play full back or right up when playing aggressive strokes and you can considerably increase your control over your agressive shots.
