Flynn is out. Our number 1 2 and 3 batsman are inconsistent. And seem to get out too easily.
All this pressure on Taylor and Ryder is going to burn them out.

And Flynn has just got out

Don't worry, him having friends in high places should keep him in the team.

Not getting the knives out or anything but apart from bashing around the West Indies, what has Daniel Flynn done exactly to justify selection after one good season?

Received plaudits for 'grittyness' after series against Australia. He averaged close to 40 from memory, but that was aided by one or two not-outs and a fair few edges through and around slips.

Still, I like him and there aren't many other options for number 3. Unfortunately seems to have a knack for block, block, block, edge to slips rather than playing and missing.

I lost $5 by betting on Guptil to score less than 27 runs. They havn't bowled too much short stuff at him yet. I am glad I lost the bet hope he gets a 50.

Think Guptill's been told at tea not to try to hit everything for 4 - doesn't know what to do with himself now.

Guptill test career to date:

14, 48, 8, 17, 49, 24, 18, 35

All with a strike rate of 56. Why do all of our batsmen have talent or brains, but not both?

Ryder should have been taken there.

Cracking shot from Taylor. Maybe time for Murali and spin from both ends.

Flynn at three puts far too much pressure on New Zealand's strongest suit, their lower middle order. Taylor is apparently their best batsman, he should be at three. Not a guy who comes in, stagnates the innings before departing to a limp shot.

So, will we see both McIntosh and Flynn when Pakistan arrive?

Apart from one season what has Flynn done to show us he's test quality. Taylor to three and Broom to 4-5?

Of course we will, McIntosh got a century last seaon so that should give him 2-3 years of failures before selectors realise he isn't up to international standards.
