Woh! Way to tie your colours to the flagpole!

I'm surprised you didn't manage to complain about socialist pinko woolly woofter feminazis in the same breath.
As I've said already, fortunately only a few in this great country think that way

You need to wake up & smell the roses lad. This is a 'cricket" forum; a place for fans to express their views & give their opinions. Clearly too much of a volatile environment for a sensitive new-age boy who gets upset when people point out the truth about some cricketer who's clearly not up to the mark. That's sport & that's life, despite what your mother told you.
That's uncalled for ok.
Just think, there might be little kids reading this forum and last thing you want to do is teach them to start bagging people when u urself is nowhere good enough either.
U need to pull ur head in.

Yeah, not meaning to have a go at you, I'm just totally sick of the term 'PC' (especially combined with any of those others) as it seems to be applied to everything and anything that certain people don't like, and is used to stifle discussion.

Anyways, on with the cricket.

Vettori to Kapugedera, no run, flighted on the leg, turned to short leg. dropped by Flynn at short leg. Very tough chance, mind you. It was flicked firmly and it thudded into the body
I'm at work so am not watching this - could he have caught it? Need to somehow get SL out for less than 400.

Patel to Samaraweera, FOUR, Samaraweeeeeera (happy Pedant?!) charges out again and drives this one to long-off boundary. Very easily done. The runs are coming quickly here. Patel is bowling lots of tripe.
Cricinfo also not respecting the fact that the commentator couldn't do any better. Dingdong to send them an email.

Legitimately disappointed that Patel hasn't been better this match - we had to play 2 spinners IMO so wanted him in the side, and was happy to partially put down his poor bowling in the last match to the stomach bug.

If we're going to talk philosophy here's one for you:

Life isn't fair. Some people will win, some people won't. Some people will be born in Ethiopia and someone else gets to be the Queen. A nine year old will be raped and murdered and Paris Hilton will live and keep being a useless bitch. Unjust, but thats the way it goes.

Patel is a very good bowler when compared to the majority of the worldwide cricket population, but just now its doubtful he is a genuine test cricketer. He can work to improve that and he might see the fruits of that work or like Mathew Sinclair despite years of persistence he may never make it. Thats just the way it goes.

Patel just got a wicket so a point in your favour. But this point
"last thing you want to do is teach them to start bagging people when u urself is nowhere good enough either"

As has already been mentioned to you - you are questioning the whole point of this forum. The whole idea is to give your opinions be they good or bad about the players. And yes all the international players are better than us. And probably yes a million times better. But if we can't criticize them when they don't perform then we might as well close down the forum. Also we can't preface every comment with "although Patel is better than me I think...."

I also think that comments on this forum need to be colorful so that you enjoy reading them. So if someone exaggerates that is ok - I still know the point they are trying to make.

If your point is that Patel is a good bowler and should be persevered with by the New Zealand selectors. Then make an arguments for it and make a case and we will listen. But I think people should be allowed to be arm chair critics.

Sorry if it feels like everyone is against you - and it is ok to defend Patel if that is what you are generally trying to do.

I was on my way home when that happened. But just wanted to comment that judging by the comments through the day it looks like we all use this forum while at work. I nearly got in trouble from my boss today as he caught me making a post about patel while in the office. Luckily he uses the Internet too so probably didn't care...my boss that is not patel.

Hrmmm, I feel your pain. In my defense I have very little work to do at the moment :)

Persistance pays off for Martin. Wonder what Prasad is like with the bat.

Frickin rain had better stay away...

Patel on a hat trick

He is building his case for future selection. Be nice if he could take a top order wicket. I guess his one wicket in the last test was a good bat though.

Go Jeets.

I suppose the good thing is now that after getting Mahela Jayawardene out, we haven't let the Sri Lankans get too far ahead. Managed to pick up 4/101 since then.

Tbf, this is SL in SL.

The only game we've well and truly thrown away from a supposedly unbeatable position is that one in England. You could argue the Indian Napier test too but that was at Napier which is 9 times out of 10 a drawathon.

But I agree, for the ability in this team they don't have the results to show for it. What really has me though is the likes of Oram have been around seemingly forever and this is only his 33rd test. We really play bugger all games don't we?
It's not just major winning positions, you get yourselves into strong positions then throw it away. Like bowling Australia out for 200 on the first day at the Gabba, having England on the ropes before letting Tim Ambrose (snigger) score a century, letting India's tail slog countless runs in the third test in February and failing to bowl out India to win the match in seven sessions.

Not exactly unloseable positions, but you get the picture.
