Michael Hussey – Is his time up?

Would've used "vs. the ball that slides in". Your sentence makes no sense.

In regards to his deficiency, it's come around since he's remodelled his batting for T20 and ODI's with his step backwards and gets caught on the crease.
Yeah okay the ball that slides in. I think you are right that it's come as a result of the shorter form and in ODI I don't mind if he gets out so much after facing 80 or so balls, but it's pretty frustrating that he's been in good form and not gone on with it once this series.

Reading this thread it is remarkable he even scores a run. Legally blind apparently...

Aside from not knowing where his off-stump is, not much wrong with him. If selected, will pummel the Windies.

I am not sure Hussey's innings should save him. He arguably did us a bigger disservice with his run-calling and pretty much getting Ponting out. I really wouldn't mind bringing Hughes/Jaques back and pushing Clarke up with Watson at 6.

More poor running on Punter's part for mine.

Yeah was ball watching and slow to set off. If he had gone straight away I reckon he would have been home easily.

There was absolutely no rush to take singles or make runs. The decision itself is surprising. Yes, Ponting has partial blame but that decision was inane at best.

Hussey's 1st innings (when the game is up for grabs) Ashes scores: 3, 51, 0, 10, 0.

On top of having averaged <25 over the past 10 months, in which time we've lost three series.

Surely, this 2nd innings ton, when the game was as good as gone, doesn't save a 34 year old?

Especially considering the modest attacks touring Australia next summer.

There's no need for this kind of talk at all ok. He's trying his best out there and he's just going to feel worse if he reads these threads. Just stop this nonsense.

There are definitely enough reasons to drop Hussey. However, sometimes you have to take a punt on a player just because you feel good about him and I personally believe that he still has the class and the ability to score a lot of test match runs in the future. He was very impressive today.

Age doesnt really matter that much these days.

The problem these days is that selection is based off "gut feeling" instead of runs. Look at Trott. Was scoring heaps of runs in country cricket and got selected.

Hopefully the players will get to play a few Sheffield Shield games before the tests against West indies.

You know, pick teams the old fashioned way - who ever is in form in the domestic competition. I think all teams will have played 2 games before the first test. For the spots up for grabs pick whoever is in form.

Though most likely Australia will be playing in some god, awful, boring and tedious ODI series right up until the 1st test in late Nov.

Watto will never last as an opener simply because there's too much competition (Hughes, Jaques, Rogers, Klinger), one bad series and he's out if he's not bowling.

Moving Watson to 6 is dumber than having him open.

Facing spin for his first ball? May as well just have him timed out.
To put it simply Watto just doesn't have the technique to last as an batsman in the test side, he was saying he did some work on his technique with Greg Chappell, but I really don't see any visible improvements.
