Nice win. Just read this as well.

If Sri Lanka win the series 2-0 and England win the Ashes, Sri Lanka will be the new No. 2 in the ICC ranking. New Zealand have been beat soundly and face a stiff ask moving to Colombo.
Go England

One with their **** up their bums and their carrots in their stomachs.

Failing that, looks like we might be drafting over half of NZ A at this rate.

Based on this match and the hope that everyone will be healthy:

McIntosh
Guptill
Flynn
Taylor
Ryder
---------
McCullum
Vettori
Jeets/Tuffey depending on conditions
O'Brien/Tuffey depending on mood
Martin

Fly Bond in, get someone who can play spin at 6, **** Oram. Who cares? He can't take wickets and can't bat.

Push Patel up to six as a specialist batsman I reckon, screw his horrible attempts at off spin. :p

Out of the reserves we have Elliott, Tuffey, Young and Cumming. Good joke (bat Tuffey of course).

Where's that NZ A squad list? There'd be some worthy names on there *cough* Bond *cough*

For the next test, some ideas:

If you don't know what to do at the toss, bat first ffs.

If you plan on batting last, then it must be a seamer and as a result you don't play two spinners.

Does Tuffey deserve a recall or do we persist with Patel and/or O'Brien?

Another allrounder for Oram (realistically its gonna be Vettori or Elliott) or a batsman (Cumming, Young)?

The Test batting performance is entirely irrelevant in only his recent matches has Franklin Mk II batted and he didn't do well (still better than Oram). Upon injury he worked on his batting and is now a completely new man, just check out his last FC season he was probably the best batsman in all forms of the game. Definitely good enough to be a Test 7, just needs to be allowed to establish himself in the team instead of knee jerk decisions to drop him.
I'm a fan of Franklin, and reckon he should be in and around the team, but not at 7.

If we're looking solely at just domestic form last season, there's a pretty strong reason for Sinclair to be back in there. At least as backup.

So here's who we can steam in from India if need be:
Code:
Aaron Redmond
Jamie How
Peter Fulton
BJ Watling
Neil Broom
Kane Williamson

Gareth Hopkins
Peter McGlashan

Nathan McCullum
Kyle Mills
Brendon Diamanti
Tim Southee
Shane Bond
Tarun Nethula
Brent Arnel
Could always get Frankie to nip in overnight too, but I reckon stick Broom in @ 6 and bring Tuffey in for O'Brien

I think barring illness we will end up going in with an unchanged team.

Oram didn't exactly do much worse than say a Flynn, it's just he should be stepping up as a senior player like a Vettori or Martin and we expect more from him. But it feels pointless dropping him without any genuine middle order bat bashing down the door unless it's to promote Vettori to 7 and play a 5 man bowling attack.

O'Brien in danger of being pushed out by Tuffey, even though Patel was worse in this test he can fall back on sickness excuse and the must play 2 spinners mentality.

What about Fulton?

Put on a one man show for the emerging side, looks comfortable on wickets with no pace and likes to sweep. Hardly any of this current New Zealand side has any intention of playing a shot against the spinners. Far too reserved.

Fulton in for Oram? Yeah I'd go for that.
Who needs a 5th bowler? Ryder looks more likely to get a wicket anyway.

Best thing for NZ to do at the moment would be too play six top-line batsmen with McCullum at seven and Vettori at eight. Then play your three best bowlers.

Agree. With our batting line-up being rather weak Ryder is good enough to fill in 5-10 overs a day.
