Na wonderful plan, Taylor is at his weakest when he feels like the bowlings easy. Vs. Murali and Mendis he'd be concentrating hard, then on comes Jayawardene and he relaxes and gets himself out.
Still remember him getting out to Kevin Pietersen.

I agree. So often by the time that Vettori comes into bat, things are a lost cause. On occasions like today, or the Bangladesh test last year, when he comes in higher up the order, he's shown he has the ability to really make a serious contribution to our batting, not just by making runs, but also by glueing or middle order together. I would be quite happy to bat him at number 6, above McCullum and Oram/Franklin, and keep him there for a year to see how he goes.

EDIT: Kiss of death, I know.
It's a criticism I've often levelled at Vettori that he's so reluctant to take additional responsibility. He's clearly more than good enough to bat up the order, but he doesn't want to so he stays at number 8 where he's comfortable. Likewise, he's clearly the toughest bowler to score off in ODIs but never bowls himself at the death, instead putting his faith in Mark Gillespie. The guy is either a bit self-protecting or doesn't trust his own ability.
