Decent result and performance (backpasses excepted) against what are supposed to be one of the better sides around. Milner must have put himself in the running for our starting XI. I still struggle with Capello reminding me of Leggy Mountbatten in the Rutles, but I guess that's my problem not his.

1-0 to Hartlepool.

We deserve to lose for the stupid side put out by Coleman. I appreciate a couple of players were away on international duty, but this is pathetic.

Capello should consider Almunia in the future TBH, even if he doesn't start. He is not only behind Casillas & Reina, but Valdes & Diego Lopez/Andres Palop of (Villareal/Sevilla). More reason to pick him..

So if the National team is to solely be the product of said country's resources then shouldn't that include the management as well?

Don't see why him failing to get into another national team has anything to do with his merits for England selection.

No mention in here of Bendtner doubling his squad number from 26 to 52?
Supposedly it's a personal number for him. He's come out and said that he'll refund anybody who has bought an Arsenal shirt for this year with his old number on. Was considering getting his old number printed and getting myself a new shirt :p

He's qualified & potentially is the best option ENG have between the sticks. I know it would be controversial. But ATS only Green & Foster are definate keeper options, Almunia should be ahead of James, Robbo, Hart, etc without a doubt..

The fact that he's better than the other top (heh) candidates in England should be though.

Haha, rather nice of him. Have high hopes for him now that Greedy is no longer cramping his style.

Yeah, doesn't have anything to do how he is behind Casillas etc.. though.

Fair point. Some irony in an Italian turning down a player because he's not English enough.

Thought Green did well tonight tho, funnily enough. Certainly looked more of an England keeper than Foster did on Sunday.

Not a fan of high shirt numbers tbh, prefer the old 1-11 approach where they were handed out to a starting eleven every week. Though I see the appeal of having individual shirt numbers, it strikes me as being very much a marketing exercise for entirely commercial purposes.

Haa, for real..

Word. Green has earned a chance to keep long-term.

Foster hopefully the community shield was just early season cob-webs. Since for ENGs long term sake, its imperative that Foster does become quality. Ths keeper drought is really going on for too long now..
