I really get annoyed when people say that, as you have said in your post, the Aussie quicks yesterday were just brilliant, and they ripped through the English batting line-up on the back of some very good bowling. The middle order really should be watching this and feeling guilty. We could have at least spared ourselves an innings defeat with a bit of application.
That being said this bowling this morning has been more like what we've seen from Australia earlier in the series, whereas they were obviously sublime last night.
Well I acknowledged it in my post like you said, that being said I don't care what type of bowling you are facing, there is no excuse for your 3,4,5 failing to score in two innings what your 8 has in oneI really get annoyed when people say that, as you have said in your post, the Aussie quicks yesterday were just brilliant, and they ripped through the English batting line-up on the back of some very good bowling.
Even this morning they started of well, taking two early wickets, but since then they have just lost the plot, they have been bowling short ball after short ball, and Broad and Swann just kept swinging their bats at it, as they had nothing to lose, so really I don't think English batsmen are guilty of lack of application in the 2nd innings.
I don't think a captain can do much, when even his most accurate and experienced bowler is also dishing out pies.Poor captaincy exposed more like it
nah all that's happened is their is nothing riding on their wickets and they were playing like cowboys.Swann's flying toward his century. Dire stuff, if England batted like this from day 1 they'd have the urn in their hands right now.
Put men in the deep and give them 1 for every slog shot and see how long the partnership actually lasted. Then if they go expansive and try to pick gaps remind your quicks they aren't brilliant batsmen, one yorker on the stumps and you will have them FFS!!! In the mean time you don't cough up as many needless runs to player who will eventually **** upI don't think a captain can do much, when even his most accurate and experienced bowler is also dishing out pies.
Hard to disagree with that actuallyI would have bowled Katich. His long hops would have bought a wicket.
Yeah I would think Ponting expected his bowlers to pitch it up and give the slips and keeper something to do/ hit the stumps. If the plan was to bowl short **** he would have had men out from the start as well as a third man.I don't think a captain can do much, when even his most accurate and experienced bowler is also dishing out pies.
Still Broad and Swann have shown some fight and will have opened some wounds for the Aussie bowlers. Without KP to boss the bowling for a while, which would give confindence to his team mates (i.e. Punter v Onions in the 1st innings), Broad's knock might have done just this.Yeah, obviously in the context of the game these runs don't really mean anything but at least the people who've gone the ground today are getting something good to watch. Too little & too late from England and each member of the team should be forced to apologise to the whole country, except maybe Stuart Broad, WAG, MOTS
Yea should have at least gave him 1 over at the end.I would have bowled Katich. His long hops would have bought a wicket.
The fact that they've showed a bit of heart is what has pleased me. We've been pathetic this Test but a least a couple of them decided not just to ****ing bend over and say have it ladsStill Broad and Swann have shown some fight and will have opened some wounds for the Aussie bowlers. A good thing from the Aus perspective is they get a good kick in the arse if they had any thoughts that they can rock up at any stage and expect to go through the motions. Not that often Ponting would have had to worry with Warne/McGrath in the side about things getting too out of hand at the end of a match.
Yeah fair enough, I agree that its just unacceptable to see your middle order perform like that, but lets be honest, Bops and Bell were always bound to struggle because they just aren't good enough, and as I said Aussies have just lost the plot since the fall of Prior' wicket, had they bowled to Broad and Swann in the right areas, the game would have been over a long time ago.Well I acknowledged it in my post like you said, that being said I don't care what type of bowling you are facing, there is no excuse for your 3,4,5 failing to score in two innings what your 8 has in one
he can't stand there and project a false reality on the situation though. React FFS!!!!Yeah I would think Ponting expected his bowlers to pitch it up and give the slips and keeper something to do/ hit the stumps. I actually thought Bell might do alright this series. Reckon he'll get another go at The Oval as well. Bopara has to go, though. Shouldn't have played this match, get Trott in.Yeah fair enough, I agree that its just unacceptable to see your middle order perform like that, but lets be honest, Bops and Bell were always bound to struggle because they just aren't good enough, and as I said Aussie have just lost the plot since the fall of Prior' wicket, had they bowled to Broad and Swann in the right areas, the game would have been over a long time ago.
