BCCI rejects 'whereabouts' testing

Yeah, am in agreeance.

I mean, I'm sure that pretty much every clean athlete would be happy to, when asked, let authorities know where he/she currently is situated, but I'd be sure that, especially out-of-season when you are looking to "get away from it all", there'd be a number of athletes who would find it most irritating.

That's BS created by the tabloid culture. You have some rights as an individual. Just because you can hit a ball doesn't mean people have the right to pry. You get fame, and you do the best you can with it to support your fans. It doesn't mean you have to submit to a Gestapo regime.

Why can't they just call the player a day or two in advance and ask them where they will be, if they want to implement this testing?

If cricketers dont know when they will be tested and it could be at any time they cant plan their use of prohibited drugs in their training schedule. If WADA can suprise test any player anytime the only ones who will find it a problem are drug users. The most common time to use drugs is in training more than competition, using drugs to build up while training and flushing the system for competitions is such an easy way to use drugs without detection.

Disagree. This sort of thing violates the constitution in Indian law. I dont blame the players for standing up for their rights. Nothing in the world is worth sacrificing your basic human rights for.

Depends how you look at it, the BCCI dont let the players mix with bookies but the constitution allows them to mix with whoever they like and nobody has the right to tell them they cant have a bet or mix with bookmakers, are the BCCI treating them like criminals. Its not a biggy it is simply being available for drug testing to ensure the sport is clean.

Indian constitution deems betting as illegal.
