He's lucky we didn't lose.
This has happened several times now, though. He goes through a run of outs, then scores fifty to take the pressure off himself, and has another run of outs. It'd be acceptable if they were tons he was scoring every so often (he'd be NorfHis knock today was a step in the right direction, far from being back to his best, but atleast made some runs and looked much more comfortable than he has looked so far on this tour
Absolutely agree (though, the only rider with your statement is that his good seasons were mostly in England and his bad ones generally for WAHussey is just showing what many who have followed Australian Domestic cricket closely over the last decade already knew. He would often have great seasons averaging in the 60s, but would rarely back it up the next season averaging low 30s.
Even I must say I was surprised his good run lasted as long as it did.
Yeah, but unlike his other 50's this one wasn't really a scratchy effort, looked very confident while playing his shots, especially his trademark cover drives and in general looked much more assured then he has looked for a while now. This has happened several times now, though. I have as much faith in Hussey as the next guy and I wouldn't be dropping him at the moment but that innings was nothing new. He's been averaging about 30 for an extended period.. you don't average 30 at #4 without hitting 50s like that sometimes, but it doesn't mean it's an acceptable output either.
I won't say it was all hit-miss, but certainly it was not as fluent as you think I am afraid. In fact he was very lucky to survive his first delivery itself.Yeah, but unlike his other 50's this one wasn't really a scratchy effort, looked very confident while playing his shots, especially his trademark cover drives and in general looked much more assured then he has looked for a while now.
So what I'm saying is, the signs are good, and of course 50's aren't good enough at the end of the day, but as a Mr.Cricket fan, I just hope he takes out some confidence from this effort of his and comes back into his own.
TBF he was massively under pump in terms of the situation of the game when he's scored his last two 50s.Hussey's current run is very much similar to what Dravid had in the last 2 years. A slew of dire scores interspersed with an occasional 50 on a flat track. I'd rather have him dropped but unfortunately I don't think there are many knocking at the doors to replace him.
Yea well someone high up will find out soon enough that the current team has only 10 men and a ladyboy.Would welcome him into the England side tbh.
Right now, yes.Reminds me of Bevan. Brillliant in ODI but ordinay in tests., although I am wondering about what would have happened if bouncer was permitted in his time.
I always thought that he was consistently mediocre at home (with a few exceptions, like 2004/05) and consistently Bradmanesque overseas?Hussey is just showing what many who have followed Australian Domestic cricket closely over the last decade already knew. He has some very good seasons at home, and would often put himself up for Australian selection, but would never put two seasons together.I always thought that he was consistently mediocre at home (with a few exceptions, like 2004/05) and consistently Bradmanesque overseas?
Hughes back as opener, Clarke at 4, North at 5 and Watson at 6.lolalternatives
