If Broad isn't broken by this series, (I doubt he will) He should probably focus on being prepared for England's next tour Down under. he may yet be the finished article by then

Do you actually believe the bollocks that you post? Dead set on your way to becoming the worst CC poster of all-time
You're on your way to becoming arguably the dumbest member that has ever signed up on this forum because you are seemingly the only one who reacts or takes offence when I make sarcastic remarks.

No really, if you changed your last name to something like Boycott, Gower, Botham or Willis and put on a fake blonde wig then you'd be in with a good shout of becoming England's next great allrounder. The batsman won't take you seriously and you'll be averaging over 40 with the ball, but atleast your representing your country, right?
Once again, please refrain from baiting other posters. There are enough issues around here without posters deliberately trying to stir up reactions.

Loathe as I am to use the 05 comparisons, is anyone else reminded of the flak Giles copped after the first Test four years ago when Broad is discussed? Obviously there are key differences, but he is being scapegoated somewhat IMO
It is the way things always work, it is always easier to try and blame one person for a side being essentially mediocre (which England are) don't think the Broad case is nearly as bad as others we have seen but is probably some truth in it. Does not help that his face is somewhat dislikeable.

The average stands at a grand 77 with just 4 wickets so far for Broad. I have no clue how he is still hanging on to his spot. His batting has been hardly bailing him out with an avg of 16 so far. Surely Harmison should be back for the next test.

The "don't change a winning team" mantra. If England were currently one-nil down, he might (though only might) have had to sling his hook for the ongoing-as-of-this-post game.

If they were to win again at Edgbaston and he took 0-130 in the match (which is unlikely BTW) I'd still be pretty surprised to see him replaced for Headingley.

unless the player is insanely talented or your national team is low on options then meh prospects like him should be learning their trade on the county circuit rather than attempting to learn it in the harshest of environments.

Yeah, I'd agree with you if I thought we had older players that would be able to stand in and do a decent job in his stead, but I don't really think we do at the moment.

harmison is still a superior bowler to broad. i don't see how that can be disputed. as tainted and damaged a player as he still would do a better job than broad.

I completely agree. Harmison is miles ahead of Broad, even when he's not in peak form.

People often point to Broad's stats, but his figures are fairly comparable to Harmison's stats over the last few years

Well that obviously justifies his terrible statistics.
It doesn't justify Harmison's either though. At least Broad's a test number eight.

I don't think for a second that Harmison's a better bowler than Broad either. Look at how they bowled when they were playing together in the West Indies. It's all very well to say he's "not test class" or "just being picked on potential" or "not up to scratch". I'm not hearing any decent alternatives to picking him.
