Denver trade a second round pick for Arron Afflalo, Walter Sharpe and cash.

Detroit does this to make 2 million cap space, possibly in preparation for their next trade but I love this move for Denver. Afflalo is a defensive stud. who every year out of High School has improved on the offensive end. He always got the Pistons toughest assigment on D last season but with Gordon here I think they knew he was going to battle for minutes. This guy is a far better defender than Dahntay and not a passenger on offence. 40% from 3 last season. I really like him, reminds me a lot of a young Raja Bell.

EDIT: AI Watch: Memphis Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley thinks that the Miami Heat are "the odds-on favorite" to sign free-agent guard Allen Iverson but hasn't abandoned hope of acquiring the four-time scoring champion.

In a halftime interview Sunday at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, where No. 2 overall draft pick Hasheem Thabeet made his professional debut in the Grizzlies' 86-57 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, Heisley confirmed to ESPN.com that he still wants to bring Iverson to Memphis.

"I think he's got three teams he's talking to," Heisley said, referring to the Grizzlies, Heat and the Charlotte Bobcats, who are widely presumed to be interested because Iverson's former coach, Larry Brown, has said he's open to coaching Iverson again.

"Obviously I would think that the odds-on favorite would be Miami, because Dwyane Wade would like to get with him and I think that would be where [Iverson and agent Leon Rose] would like to go. But we're still talking to them and we'll see what happens."

Rockets acquire Aussie centre Dave Andersen. Was hugley succesful in Russia and had a few injuries in Barcelona when he went but has been considered one of the top Euroleague centres for a while now. Delighted for the guy to finally make it to the big league. Plays a Euro style of ball with Aussie toughness.

Andersen has another year on his deal with Barcelona, but has a clear NBA escape clause in his contract that that he can exercise until July 15th. That is a difficult situation for Barcelona, as they will be in serious limbo until that point—essentially the very tail end of the signing period for elite European clubs, where there will likely be few if any big men of Andersen’s caliber on the market. Barcelona has an option to buy out Andersen’s contract, and may be forced to do so if they feel like they cannot wait on the NBA to act.

Looks like the Rockets got this done just in time. I'm happy for the guy, could turn out to be Scola mk 2 for them. Just worried about how he'll handle the pace of the NBA. He is really really skilful though.

Gutted for Mills :( I'm going to assume the injury has basically ruled him out of playing much/any NBA until the 2nd half of the upcoming season? (Taking into account recovery time, and the fact that I imagine there would be a few other guards ahead of him at Portland?)

Stoked to see Andersen get a run in the NBA though, hope he goes well.

Ahhh good point, fairly certain 2nd round picks aren't assure a contract as well. In that case, how would he go about getting back into the NBA? I'd assume he can't re-enter the draft?

He'd enter free agency I'd imagine, wait for his injury to heal and maybe play D-League and hope for a call up? You'd imagine the kid would carve the D-League up.

I think he can also return to Australia or play in Europe as a Portland contracted player. I think Anderson was under contract with Atlanta after being drafted a few years ago and was offered a contract by Houston that Atlanta had to approve. I'm not 100% sure and it does get quite confusing.

Yeah, Blazers will hold Mills' draft rights just like the Twolves hold Rubio's. He can play anywhere but the NBA but if he wants to come back it's either when Portland calls him back up or if his rights get traded. There are a heap of clauses and stuff but they differ from contract to contract. Reckon Europe might be his best bet. Greece, Italy or Spain and he can be paid really big and get exposure back from the scouts.

Better than playing in empty gyms in the D-League. Would be better for the Boomers as well.

Hornets have done well to get Okafor for Chandler, he is a legit second scoring option, and they now have inside, midrange and outside scoring options.

Bobcats must be sinking financially, taking an older injury proe guy just because he has a shorter contract.

Also Sports Unplugged saying a Kenyon for Deng/James deal was proposed by Denver. Itstl, after all small forward is a huge position of need for the Nuggz.

Artest missed the first two team buses (the ones for players, coaches and team personnel) from Houston's hotel to the Staples Center and barely made the third and final bus, which was reserved for business staff, sponsors and friends of the team. These stunned people watched Artest sprint to the bus right before it left, jump on and take one of the remaining seats ... yes, wearing only his underwear. Owner Leslie Alexander happened to be sitting on the bus and witnessed the whole thing. And you wonder why the Houston Rockets didn't make any effort whatsoever to bring back Artest.

Haha, enjoy the Lakers signed an absolute nutcase. Will watch what happens here with interest.

Not Luol Deng? If so, yes, please, take him.

Also, quite the get for Hornets. I rate Okafor very highly.
