AgreedThe ICC are concerned that the Windies may send a weakened team to the Champions Trophy but don't seem to give two hoots that the integrity of test cricket is currently being underminded.Waste of space.

Gotta say, really surprised by Mahmudullah's figures in both games so far. I've only seen him bowl in ODIs, but he's not even really a frontline bowler in Bangladeshi domestic cricket. His five-for in the first Test was in fact his first in his 40th First Class fixture.

Quite simply, they can't play spin....Really poor dismissals by some West Indian batsmen Richards,Phillips and Ryan Hinds. Mahmudullah bowled well drew mistakes from the batsmen
Hinds was out for just two!
if he can't score runs at home against Bangladesh, then who will he score runs against?

but doesn't seem to have featured in domestic cricket for the last couple of seasons.
A good Bangla batsman is one who averages more than his age. Nafis Iqbal is one who's almost there - 24 and 23.50 is better than the current incumbent.

Bangladesh's selectors are generally an ambitious mob and I guess that's fair enough. I'm sure they realise that Javed is better than Kayes at the moment, but there's absolutely no chance of him ever being a Test standard batsman. Kayes may be terrible now, but he's young so they think there's a chance - albeit a very slight one - of him developing his game by playing against good players and possibly becoming a Test standard batsman in time. As such, they continually select talented players out of their Under 19 teams - which are often quite successful - and give them experience at Test level. It's not like in other countries where players can just develop their games in First Class cricket and then step up to Test level because the gap is just too wide. There's no point just plodding along aimlessly with no ambitions to ever become better than they are as a Test-playing nation.. they need to try to improve themselves and find players who belong.
Of course, they didn't know they were going to be playing Floyd and his merry men when they named their squad. I think the likes of Javed Omar and Rajin Saleh might've been on the plane if they realised there was a really good chance of a series win when they named the team to begin with as they are clearly amongst the best batsmen available to them at the moment, even if not the ones with the most Test-standard-potential.
