Bowling North to get the extra over in was a daft idea anyway; arguably one over from Hilfy to tailenders worth two from the spinners.
Agreed. Or Siddle. Or even Johnson cranking it up.

All that being said, how well did Panesar bat today? For all the ****eness of his bowling lately, that was a wonderful exhibition with the bat.

I'd like to dedicate this next song to Anderson & Panesar, it's called Out Ta Get Me, it goes a bit like this "they're out ta get me, they won't catch me, i'm ****ing innocent, they won't break me"

What was most impressive with his batting was that he didn't look like a rabbit in the headlights. He looked very controlled.

Yeah, was really surprised, pleasantly surprised. Fair play Monty. As you say, he might well not play another Test this summer, but if we go on to be victorious he will have played a HUGE part

Believe me I know all about our Ben!

I was disgusted with Pietersen in this Test btw. Not one shred of care was put into either of his innings. I'm getting fed up of him riding on the fact that he's undroppable because he's our best batsman and his blatant disregard for his wicket and the team's situation is a disgrace.

But having said that, if he mullers that ugly sod Siddle all over Lords he'll be in my good books again.
You dont average 50 in test cricket whilst having a "blatant disregard for his wicket."

Why arent you ragging on about Cook who was dismissed for the umpteenth time in the same fashion?

Or Bopara, whose temperament and technique must now be regarded as highly suspect?

Or ......................... etc etc etc

Bopara earned a reprieve through being sawn off tbf.

Cook deserves some stick though. Have been sceptical of people questioning his place, but if I had to bet on a batsman not to see out the series it would be him. Who would replace him though?

I hear what you're saying but to get to 69 as Penisen did, on a flat deck, and then to throw your wicket away is pretty reprehensible tbf.

The amount of time Pietersen has got himself in and looked absolutely untouchable only to try some ridiculous shot to get himself out is unbelievable. You can talk about all that "It's the way he plays nonsense" all you want, the fact is he's a tool who doesn't value his wicket as much as a top class batsman should. If he'd apply himself as much as a Ponting or a Chanderpaul does then he'd be averaging a lot more than a 50.

As for Cook, his technique is woeful and he has well and truly been found out in Test cricket. But i'm not on the selection panel am I? The reason i'm homing in on KP is because no one else seems to do so just because he's KP.

Moore. Complete the yarpification of our top order.

Re: KP. He gets more stick precisely because he is our best batsman. Today's leave was an absolutely appalling bit of judgement to go with his first innings dickheadery. Averages 50, yes, could be more tho.

I presumed he was, don't recall anything being mentioned on the commentary, but was a bit excitable at the time so coulda missed it.

Looked man most likely to today, accuracy very impressive.
Yeah... I couldn't hear the commentary, too much noise.

Hilfy's been better than I thought he would be this test, and Johnson and Siddle were less good, which is interesting.
