Haha, will get murderous if people start blaming this on Ponting. He batted superbly and made a lot of good decisions throughout the match. Take solace in knowing that Australia were easily the better side, and we are the strong favourites for the rest of the series. It's easy to say what should've happened, but we were only one wicket away from winning a match we dominated.

Feeling a lot better for the rest of the series after this match.
Yeah, contrary to my last post I'm quite happy. Every batsmen has form, our spinner is punching above his weight and our bowlers have done well in tough conditions. Very confident for the rest of the series. Thoroughly outplayed England and if we had all our overs we would have won.

I said last night after watching Australia dominate that even if England saved the game the momentum would still be with Ponting & Co going into the 2nd Test and I still believe that despite us hanging on by the skin of our teeth just now, but... what is cracking a smile on my face is all the hardcore Aussie who, having stayed up willing that last wicket to fall, will go to work tomorrow morning disappointed and dog tired.

Have a g'day, chaps!
Dont worry mate, we'll be fine. Unlike you lot, we have a shower each morning to freshen ourselves up.

Enjoy your chip sandwich

It wasn't supposed to be as nail-biting as 4 years ago

Logic states that Aus were miles better and will see us off on a pitch with an ounce of life in it. otoh both sides will probably reckon that England can't play as badly again and with a couple of new bowlers batting won't be as easy for Aus next time around.

And they say Kevin is the best England batsmen bah It is totally Colly:).Anyways good match on a flat track never would of expected getting even close to a result a few days ago it is good that the Aussies got this close.I'm a bit disappointed by Ricky not putting Hilfy on but oh well.

Logic dictates no such thing. They did exactly the same in the opening match when they last visited India and we all know how that one ended up.

Although England can't just call up Amit Mishra to win them the series.

At least the draw might paper over the gaping cracks in the English side come Lords. I'd be very surprised to see anything but an Aussie win.

Disappointing, but a dominant performance notwithstanding the lack of a twentieth wicket. Did extremely well to almost get a result despite the pitch and the time lost. The euphoria from saving the Test might ironically give England more confidence than if Australia had got nowhere near winning, but Australia will obviously still have a pretty big psychological advantage going into the second Test.

A lot of credit to Collingwood, one of few English players to emerge from this match with much credit and wouldn't be surprised if he was chiefly responsible for keeping England's spirits up behind the scenes. A few things for Australia to work on, most pressing IMO being Johnson's new ball bowling. Bowled well in other spells but was mostly all over the place with the new ball in this Test.

Feel a bit better about the tickets i bought for the 4th day at Headingly the other day now. Could still be all over by then, but less likely now.

Hoping for an interview with Colly. Looked like he was gonna cry when he got out, he deserved this result more than anyone.
