Suprised to see they are starting off with Broad. He has offered nothing this match apart from a cheap wicket yesterday from a poor Clarke shot. Nothing but fodder.

Really interesting analysis from Atherton there on Broad's bowling compared to McGrath. Suggests that he has the accuracy but needs to find the right line and length.

Broad is a good bowler guys, he's the next McGrath. They should pick him for every Ashes series until he retires.

Broad getting obsessed with bouncers now. Two sail over the batsman's head & are called wides, then gives Haddin a drive ball which he duly dispatchs to the boundary. Bra-fecking-vo.

Nass makes good point: day 4 in Cardiff 140 overs in; wherefore the twirlers, Straussy?

Broad IS quick, tall and young

Unfortunately, in the 6/7 tests I've seen him play, he has hardly moved one ball and doesnt get unexpectedly high bounce - in other words, he does NOTHING with the ball

Whilst I have no doubts that he could develop into a very fine test cricketer, I repeat that I am totally mystified as to why is given so much responsibility with the ball

Broad does seam and swing it (and reverse it) a little sometimes, he's just not really a specialist in any area and as such doesn't do it when conditions aren't very favourable. I don't know whether he'll be a threat to Aussie batsmen this series, but I can tell you that he's improved immeasurably this year and he's certainly not as bad as his record suggests (or indeed as bad as some of the Aussie posters here seem to think).

Only guessing, but my call is it's because he's wary about Fred going snap again (rightly so, for mine) & the spinners chucking down dross. Hobson's choice.

Might be worth giving Bopara a trundle? Haddin would fancy his mediums and could buy a wicket.

They could try Collingwood. Broad and the erratic Morkel seem two of a kind.
Morkel's more of a threat, but less accurate. He makes you shout obscenities at your TV a lot more, but when SA visited England last year Morkel took almost twice as many wickets.

Hope that client with the trumpet isn't going to be playing the Rocky theme all bleedin' day. Might be forced to kill someone.

Wasting time in the first hour of the first session on Day 4 is hilarious. Can't believe I'm seeing it.
