The difference is, those players yous mentioned are proven before this match. Broad isn't.
Mate, I know it's late over here, but if you think Phil Hughes and Ben Hilenhaus are "proven" at test level after playing all of 4 tests before this one, then you have your head up your own arse.

If Haddin holds his pose for that long after a forward defensive and a leave, how long does he hold it for when he plays a good shot?

Hoping the rain saves us in this Test, 4-0's an improvement on last time!

Clarkey will be filthy there! Batsman's nightmare that - out, then light offered shortly after.

Strauss doesn't look that happy about it. I'm sure he'll take the same view tomorrow afternoon when England are 2-20, 197 behind and umpire Dar offers the light to him. Here Andrew, have a mint you sour ****.

I know, terrible shot aswell, threw away another Test hundred. He knew it aswell.
Yeah, though after he got out the best thing is to get off the park in those conditions - have Haddin and Johnson go nuclear tomorrow (weather permitting)

Surprised they were out there in the first place. Looked really gloomy and dark. Whenever the floodlights are on in a Test match, it's always a touch and go decision.

Indeed. Done for the day (night!) now anyway. Off to bed.

Evening all.

What you talking about? We're still favourites in my book, just concerned about the welfare of your batsmen in these dangerous conditions
Ahh nice of you to be so caring, the old back does get a bit sore on the way to hundreds and fifties.

well i'm off until tomorrow, somone make this rain pss off, is ruining a right good pom bashing.

Distinct possibility IMO.

Judging by this match, he hasn't improved at all, his just faced weaker opposition.
If we are to go by this match then Johnson is an absolute joke bowler who hasnt improved since his debut. Interesting revelation that because at the start of the series he was paraded around as being one of the best fast bowlers in the world.

Johnson being an absolute joke bowler doesn't say much for Andrew Strauss, Ravi Bopara or Stuart Broad.

That's why he bounced out the English captain and completely made a fool out of their number 3 batsman. Outbowled all of England's bowlers by far.

Not really no. So he bowled a slower ball that Bopara didnt pick, give him a medal for being consistently rubbish other than for 2 balls in the entire game.

Says about as much as when Adam Sanford dismissed Tendulkar, Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman in a test match at Sabina Park a few years ago.
Well Adam Sanford didn't bowl like a joke bowler during that match. But you're accusing Johnson of having bowled like one in this match.

And you actually think he bowled well? Sorry he looked innocuous throughout and got smacked around for more than 4 runs an over for most of the game. Honestly, people on this forum have some sort of blind love to anything he does. He was the worst Australian bowler on show this game and its not really like Siddle or Hauritz bowled like champions either. With the exception of Hilfenhaus and possibly Flintoff the bowling this game has been ordinary to poor throughout.

Haa, you cant be serious. This has got to be crazyness thing i have ever heard you so yo. Since Johnson is CLEARLY a much improved bowler since his debut, even if what he did in SA was a bit exaggerated by the conditions (his swing).

In case you forget in Sydney 07/08, the conditons was aiding swing bowling. If Johnson was the same bowler he was back then, he couldn't have done what in he did in SA.

You better hope at no point in time in the next 4 tests, that no bowler friendly condtions are seen.

Whilst I do think that Johnson is extremely overrated on these boards, I never said he hadnt improved, he clearly has. Just that the logic behind looking at 1 innings (with respect to Broad and Johnson) to come to a conclusion that someone hasnt improved is somewhat flawed.

Sorry, but I reckon that's cobblers of a high order.

Johnson has been bowling on a dead flat track and didn't get the ball to swing. What he showed is that he has more in his armoury if he can't bring the ball back into the right-hander/away from the southpaws. It wasn't accidental he surprised Strauss with a short one or got Bopara with a slower one. He thought out the batsmen. He got lucky with Broad, perhaps, but credit to him for 2/3 of his wickets.

Haurtiz being smacked is more of an issue for him than Johnson too; the offie is in primarily as a container (which is why I presume he was preferred to Krezja), but Johnson is the spearhead. If your spearhead knocks over two of the top three on a bad day he must be doing something right.
