*Official* First Test at Swalec Stadium, Cardiff

International 12th Man
6:15 start according to Bumble on Twitter. I wonder if he apprecited he pointing out his use of the word 'organised'? Using the lights as well.

Another quick question, in answer to Ben's VM messages to me, Broad vs Daren Powell, who's the better Test bowler?
Take out the stats against West Indies, New Zealand & Bangladesh and Powell averages 53 opposed to Broad who averages 65. Can you understand why I didn't want to make a thread out this topic now?

Cricinfo cits a minimum of 12.0 overs remaining in the day. If Australia can score at five runs per over, they can get to 531 which is a 96 run lead. An extremely aggressive declaration after that could have Australia push for a win.
Bat out today, and the first hour, hour and half tomorrow, in one day mode tomorrow morning, haddin and johnson could easily pile a on a quickfire 30 runs each, hauritz no slouch either. declare with lead of about 175, then rip in

Even Broad's fans (i.e. me) don't claim he was any good last summer V South Africa. He has improved in the last 6 months, so giving him an average that includes all of his games except for that period is pointless. A bit like you, really.

Judging by this match, he hasn't improved at all, his just faced weaker opposition.

Going to have to scrap my theory, just checked the BBC satellite image and it has rain sweeping across Wales on Saturday afternoon. This Test is likely dead.

Judging by this match, Michael Hussey isn't a good batsman at all, he's just never played Test Cricket

****'s sake. Broad hasn't bowled well, and I'll hold my hands up at the end of the series if he keeps bowling like this. I'm guessing you never saw him bowling over the last few months though?

And he takes one, yes, played Broad, well in

But also judging by this Test match Graeme Swann is a better Test batsman than Phillip Hughes and Michael Hussey, and Ben Hilfenhaus is a better bowler than Mitchell Johnson.....

And as we speak, wicket for Broady. <3 Clarke gone.

The difference is, those players yous mentioned are proven before this match. Broad isn't.

Yes. But the aforementioned comments showed how such a small timeframe gives no help for analysis, not minimal help and therefore the circumstances are irrelevant.

If he starts showing improvement against good opposition then his improving. Taking wickets against lesser opposition counts for less.

Why would they declare 90 odd runs ahead? Surely they'll bat on until or just either side of lunch, ensuring they only have to bat once, yet giving themselves nigh on 5 sessions to bowl England out.

All bets off if it keeps raining for a long period, of course.

Bad luck Clarke there. And tbf the only way Broad looked like getting a wicket was when the players were using miners' lamps.

Nothing to do with the commanding position Australia are in at the moment mate? C'mon where's the :1eye: optimism i love you for?
What you talking about? We're still favourites in my book, just concerned about the welfare of your batsmen in these dangerous conditions
