Australia had a good win in the Twenty20, but England bounced back with a 9 wicket win yesterday in the first ODI

2nd ODI today and England scored 259, Australia are 7-1 in the 4th. Tough chase.

3 more ODI's to go and then the test.

Sarah Taylor is gun...60 odd yesterday and a ton today.

Three would not be asking too much. If you want a series and to have it taken seriously, three is the bare minimum. Sure, I don't expect every series of theirs to be 3 matches, but for the Ashes - come on.

The point is, I'd like it to be three, but the chances of that are precisely zero.

I don't see why the chances are precisely zero. Zero at the moment, maybe, but in the future they will have to play more fixtures.

Two should be the bare minimum. One does not a series make.

No - a one-off Test makes... well, a one-off Test. And it's mad that The Women's Ashes should be at stake based on a one-off Test.

As for the zero chance, well, there's never any ability to know what's a possibility in the future. Right now, though, if you're expecting more than two you're going to be disappointed - and sometimes (as the last two series' demonstrate) you're not even going to get that. Yes, I'm almost certain it was a two-Test rubber in 2005, the one before that.

was a 3 test series in 98 iirc. Ended 0-0...think the high proportion of slow scoring draws may have led to the cut back in the number of games, might be possible to go back up again now as the standard is higher

Yeah, dismal. Very impressive captain's innings from Fields here, and Haynes on debut. Ridiculous top order peformance. 11 fours so far for Fields in her 70. Not bad. But still in a pretty bad position...
