They won't play 4 quicks and I don't think they should, would back England in at 2-2 if we've played 4 quicks every test. North and Clarke can't do the job at Test level, Hauritz or at least McDonald must play. Back Hauritz now rather than bringing him in with 0 confidence later on, he's done his job every time at int. level.

What are Hauritz or McDonald going to bring to the side? Containment? Hauritz won't bring containment, and Clark is better at doing that anyway.

There is no place for either of them Hoggs.

North has a better FC record than Hauritz. If North can't do a job at Test level, then I wouldn't give much hope to Hauritz.

I'm all for variety, but would really struggle to fit Hauritz in, even at Cardiff.

Ooops, speak of the devil and he shall appear.

Lolllllllllll statistics = real life? Failure. Holes in that for sure, and I'm in love with North.

Hauritz on now, (second?) last chance saloon.

North comes on and bowls 4-5 over spells as the 5th or even 6th choice bowler for WA. You're comparing that to being the frontline spinner for a side?

This is why I don't usually post in CC, people have no idea how cricket works.

Seen overly-fatigued Aussie attacks taken advantage of a fair bit lately, Steyn and Duminy come to mind. It's a 5 test series, must look at it with some sense of attrition.

Tbf, that's the Test when Lee picked up his injury and Hauritz was playing anyway. But I get you. :) Would personally go the other way, obviously. Hope we win either way. :)

Occurs to me this is Johnson's maiden FC game in England. & nearly picks up a wicket with a rank full-bunger as I type. Clarke should probably have got more of a hand to it at least.

Quality performer, obv, but still relatively inexperienced by today's standards.

Siddle's only played 1 FC game in England as well. They're both very inexperienced in English conditions. Siddle didn't even play the t20 tournament. Which is why i said that it would be interesting to see how they do with the Dukes.

Am I correct in saying that of the bowling options (Lee, Clark, Siddle, Johnson, McDonald, Hauritz, North), Lee is the only one who has played a Test in England, and of the rest, only Clark and North have played County Cricket?

Fair, happened on other occasions but had memory of that.

Wouldn't have minded Symonds at 6.

North and Hauritz in tandem. Thommo turning in his grave.

Which is more than North or Hauritz are managing.

I'm here all week, now, take my wife. Please...

Balls arent the concern, length they bowl is

In that regard, Siddle will be fine as he is out of the early McGrath mould

Johnson will be a concern if he doesnt move it as pace alone doesnt cut it on some grounds in Eng

Two no-balls in that over from Hauritz. Just bad cricket that.

Don't reckon North's any better, but he's not a lot worse either. Chucks it up more & gets Davies edging to slip as I type by doing just that.

53 for the home-town stumper and we're into the tail proper. Get Lee back on and we'll wrap it up tonight.

Lee's done his job and should be in the pavillion resting up - ooh sorry, with a twinge in his back

Let the others do something
