BARNES OUT
Walking straight into a job with the NRL apparently.Interesting he's not having a lap of honour in the SL too. Sure he could make some (comparitively) easy money for a coupla seasons.

Fair enough. Can actually call him a role model with a straight face so he's the kinda chap they want onboard.Walking straight into a job with the NRL apparently.
Yeah, it's a shame to see a career destroyed by alcohol.Poor Buster, still think the guy can play good footy, obviously has off field issues. A real shame as he was a gun young player a few years ago and hasnt reached the highs that were expected.
Must be doing something right to be the games leading pointscorer of all time. Some of the tries I've seen El MAsri score have been brilliant, beating several guys on regular occasions, sometimes with footwork and other times with just pure strength. As far as creating anything...he's a winger, and as you said he know's where the tryline is, thats all you need ask of your wingers. Haven't seen Sailor "creating" anything recently either.Don't get the El Masri love. Sure he's a terrific role model, but goal kicking aside he's an average footballer imo. Knows where the try line is, but isn't fast enough to make up for his lack of strength, and rarely creates anything. That said it's great to see someone making the most of what they have. Reckon he'll make a good commentator too.
Cronulla have signed Titans prop (who is in the NYC) Siosaia Vave on a two year contract worth $300,000.
Wow that's huge money for an NYC player.
No one is questioning the skill of his boot. He'll likely go down as the best goalkicker of all time and with good reason.Must be doing something right to be the games leading pointscorer of all time. He's a winger. He's not supposed to "create" tries, he's supposed to finish them. That's their job. Stupidest critcism of a winger I've ever heard.Don't get the El Masri love. As to wingers creating things there was Sailor's effort against the Tigers last week. Had to beat 3 guys (including Tuiaki) to get over the stripe, El Masri would have got thrown into touch. Grothe busted through 3 tackles to make a break against the Broncos, and Jarryd Hayne was about the best player on the ground at the last SOO. That's just from the games I've watched in the last week.
Decent player, amazing boot but has been overrated throughout his career, particularly recently. Although tbf I think his goalkicking was taken into account whenever opinions of him are formed which is fair enough. Should never have played Origin which is the main gripe I have with him but then you could say that of plenty of the blues players to have put on the jersey in the past few years.
I was basically trying to say what DCYE said, yes sailor Hayne etc score brilliant tries, good on them, doesn't make El Masri a **** winger, not his fault he's not 190cm's and 25 years old anymore.. Would prob be the first man picked every week at the bulldogs, and most other teams as well. He's a winger. He's not supposed to "create" tries, he's supposed to finish them. That's their job. Stupidest critcism of a winger I've ever heard.
So he does his job, but rarely goes beyond that? Sounds like "average" and "decent" are the correct adjectives then. Deserving of rep honors though? He's a winger. He's not supposed to "create" tries, he's supposed to finish them. That's their job. Stupidest critcism of a winger I've ever heard.
Naa scored a great try a couple of weeks ago in the Friday night game. No one is saying hes the greatest winger ever but hes better than average. So he does his job, but rarely goes beyond that? Sounds like "average" and "decent" are the correct adjectives then. Deserving of rep honors though?
Never said he was **** though. Like I said I like a player who makes the best out of what he was given.
Create was obviously the wrong word to use. What I meant was that I haven't seen El Masri score a try in a long time that wasn't fairly rudimentary. Simple catch and put downs. He's slow, doesn't threaten to break tackles. Plenty of wingers score tries week in week out that El Masri wouldn't be capable of.
I hope he isnt picked for Origin, would like Cronk or Prince on the bench.
