Hmm. Great player; mediocre human being from what I can see. Why was he given it? Services to chippiness?
Nah, he's just badly done by in the press, because he hates the press. Which makes me like him all the more, a bit different from todays boring media-friendly drones.

Not that well liked amongst his contempories either, but that was deliberate to give himself an intimidation factor. Worked too, six majors whilst he probably wasn't in the top fifty for talent in his generation.

Always comes across as a pleasant chap in his commentary too, and has set up a very successful school for young golfers which hopefully will create many more sociopathic winners:)

Can't see beyond the obvious, to be fair.

Hope Phil does well though and Casey must be the best chance for an English winner since Sir Nick.

More chance at The Open though.

Always thought he was just a bit of a tosser personally. I was a Norman fan though, so that may have something to do with it.

Edit: Met and asked him for an autograph at Palm Lakes back in 1991 and he was a **** to us as young fans too so that helped form my opinion. Didn't need the media to help us out. Didn't think he was an exciting character, just a prick.

i hope weir or mickelson or duval or some pretty accomplished player takes this out...not sure if i want to see barnes win this....as for woods, looks like he is still holding out hope but this is too big a hill even for him to climb, his only realistic chance is a top 10 finish and that too if he plays really, really well...

Been folloiwng it mate, but with the time zones, and knowing the way the weather's been, I've not stayed up for a lot of it (storing sleep for the Ashes and all).

Saw a bit of it this morning from about 4.30-5.15 our time, when Barnes was kiseed on the pecker to only drop one shot over a two-three hole stretch where he missed all fairways and landed in thick rough, only to make a couple of good up and downs.

Really hoping to get to NY one day and play Bethpage. I love courses where you can walk on and play without shelling out hundreds.

My boss played Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill this year, and they both look absolutely fanstastic as well.
