BARNES OUT
Forbes recently put his net worth recently at 1.2 billion, so is he really pulling 15-20% of his total worth during a global reccession to buy two players? Doesn't make sense given the tight credit market.
Well, it wouldn't be all his own money. They wouldn't be making these signings if he wasn't there though.

Also, transfer fees are paid over 3,4 and 5 year plans, not in lump sums. So it's more like probably a flat ten mill now, which spreads the load and allows the clubs earnings to help pay it as it goes.

Pretty much only Citeh pay lump sums.

Not any two footballers but two of the most marketable players in world football. Jorge Valdano has said that financially the buys economically will make sense as Real are in the entertainment (not football) business () and having two of the games biggest commodities will 'guarantee' off the field success. Strangely Jorge didn't mention anything about on the field success...

What on earth has Solskjær's knees got to do with Tevez?
All that stuff happened in the summer Tevez came if you read my post properly. Said it's not really his fault but the main part of me not wanting him is him thinking he's better than he is.

How good has Tevez said he is? He doesn't make up his price...

If Man U had any takers think they would get rid of Berbatov in a flash. He likes being a big fish in a small pond but the only problem is no European club is stupid enough to front up the kind of cash Man U forked out for him.
The money United payed for him no doubt was too much. But he is clearly one of the top target-men strikers in Europe ATM. Next season he'll step up, no worries..

His demand to be guaranteed a starter. You won't be. If you don't want to accept beign on the bench, sod off.
That's the kind of player top teams are missing all too much. He wants to be out there playing, he's not in it for the paycheque. Hell, that's the kind of guy I want at my team.

Think Prem fans don't realise how good they have it sometimes.

To be a target-man striker dont you have to be up front rather than skulking around the midfield 50 yards from goal?

He's played more minutes than Berbatov and Rooney and he's still complaining. Hence he can go. He's not as good as either anyway.

Again, it just shows that he is hungry. There is nothing wrong with that. I positively want players to be complaining that they aren't playing enough and I bet Ferguson wants that as well.

Just a shame Man U don't play direct football then.

Haa..clearly DB aint a Heskey/Crouch like target man. He is extremely skillful, his demenour was never an issue @ Spurs - so i dont see what the worry is.

I guess now when they cop 6 at home to Barca the plan is to score 7 at the other end. Their defence is still looking pretty poor.

Roseboy's just being weird, everyone else loves the guy. Well we would if he didn't appear to be seriously considering going to Citeh.

Think it's a good deal for ManUre, personally. Ronaldo had a very good season, but had slipped quite considerably from the heights of the previous one. I suppose the temptation is to attribute it to his heart not being in it anymore, but he did start the season injured and we don't know how much this affected him on his return.

He could have a blinder next season or he could, depsite his realtive youth, have already peaked. Best (a similar player in many ways, albeit a rather easier one to love) was the same. He'd already has his best years by Ronaldo's age. My working thesis is that it all comes too easy to them and they get distracted by off-field events. Ronnie's already put on a bit of weight, it looks fairly solid tbf, but so did the other Ronaldo's initially and look how that ended up.

Absolutely the right time to sell IMHO. Entering the third year of a five year deal which means, if he stayed another and had another vaguely disappointing showing, his value would be adjusted downwards quite dramatically.

Strangely* unloved player as well, as I alluded to earlier. Even amongst United fans he seemed respected rather than loved. Considering he was their best player by the old country mile for the last three seasons he never seemed to be clapsed to their collective breast like Cantona, Schmicheal or even Solskjaer was.

*Well, I say strangely, I suppose the possible reasons are fairly obvious.
