Look through the scorecards.He has hardly been as bad as I have seen from Kallis or Dravid.His scoring rate has been effected by low scoring games where he had to knuckle down and getting out before his eye kicked in (aka things like 24 of 40 balls or 12 of 30 balls things that shouldn't effect the game).

2008 was a pretty bad year but he didn't put up many substantial totals and when he did we won.

Also funny enough the only times in the last year (09) we put up 300 is because of Haddin and Clarke.

This next match is the worst of the lot and it was still a close match ten or fifteening more runs and we would of won.

Kallis averages 45 @ SR of 77 in the same period.

Dravid is not really the benchmark here. He is hardly the epitome of a great ODI player.

Don't get the Ferguson hate really, the guy averages 45+ at a strike rate of 80+ and plays a good role as a finisher. Fair enough his record at state level is not that flash but until he starts to fail at international level, there's no reason to pan him.

first game was more the fault of the first three batsmen getting out early then Clarke. 73 strike isn't even that bad.

second we were smashed we were never in that and he didn't even last that long anyways so.... no.

third game was a close game where the whole team besides gilly were gone by the time Clarke came were already on the back foot.In the end we were only ten runs short.

the next 4 games he didn't last that long so it shouldn't cost us the game.

the next game everyone was falling around him and chasing we needed a bigger partner up the top to have a chance .I also once again don't think 71 strike rate was awful

Last game Brad Haddin was going to town all we really needed was Clarke to hold his wicket while Brad Haddin went off.After Haddin got out Clarke got out almost straight away.No problem

The point about Clarke is not just in comparing numbers, it's about him not being able to evolve and adapt to an increasing frenetic pace of the game. The guy is much too orthodox (like most of our middle order) and hence is not able to dominate the scoring and make runs when the bowlers are applying the squeeze.

Yet it is Ojha who has the better numbers than all three, despite playing a chunk of his matches against SL, who are known to be killers of newbie spinners?

I'm guessing you've made up your own numbers, because Pragyan Ojha's most certainly are not better than Roelof van der Merwe's.

Mendis, Silva and Isuru Udana can sit out.

The difference in their batting averages in the long term will be negligible, however Fletcher actually has the potential to open the batting and play stunning game changing innings whilst Ramdin is too low to make any difference really. If they do that they can also add an extra batsman into the lineup as well.

To be fair, there are not many batsmen in the squad who are actually better batsmen than Ramdin. I know that's a sad indictment on the quality of Caribbean batsmen, but there it is....

I think both players are needed in the squad, for batting as well as keeping abilities.

Yes, the WI will probably lose this match. But I think they need to get this match under their belt, so that they know what they need to do iff they lost Gayle for a duck.
