Symonds: Gawn?

Twas neither the time nor the place for a crude impersonation of Rodin's "The Thinker", but Jimmy went ahead with it anyway.

I was just taking the piss man.

Couldn't care less about Symonds. If people/players actually think CA 'stabbed him in the back', then so be it. Doesn't justify a lack of respect for your teammates though.

He didn't just let down Sutherland, he let down his whole team, many of whom have backed up for many years.
That's the greatest load of **** I've ever heard!

Symonds was out drinking with SEVERAL of his team-mates

If anything, they let him down by not putting a stop to it

BTW, wtf does the leadership group do if they dont manage the players?

Why on earth should young guys like Warner, Dussey etc be required to tell Symonds off when he is violating his contract that he's agreed to? Can you imagine how irritating that would get after a while?

Can just imagine it...

Punter: Hey, Warner, I heard you were watching the origin match with Roy last night and he had a drink. I told you you were supposed to stop him, what were you thinking letting him carry on?

Why are you so intent on blaming everyone but Symonds himself for his predicament?

He had been told very clearly not to have a drink if he wanted to keep his job.

If you had an employee who messed up at work because he was drunk, and the guy kept on causing problems, you'd simply keep on letting him get away with it?

Whatever it takes!!!
What legacy? It compared how the issue may reflect on the underlying cultures of the two nations, similar to how bodyline became a defining moment in Australian-England relations.
The article was stupid.. Not a lline of it relating to the Sydney test was actually true...

And yeah, blind nationalistic jingoism is hard to take after hearing for ages SOME Aussie posters here talking about how subcontinental fans get are too "biased" here at CW...

case dismissed, just glad it's all over, however biased doesn't mean simply disagreeing with another's opinion

Everyone on this board has had this debate with you for ages, no point getting into it again. You're unwilling to even see anyone else's opinion, and so be it.

I'm sure Symo will be back. He's far too good and he's far too strong-willed to let this upset him too much."

Clearly Mr Andrew 'Farsighted' Flintoff can see even those qualities that God Almighty forgot to put in in the first place :)

Symonds' agent, Matt Fearon, said his client could consider becoming a freelance Twenty20 specialist, travelling the world to play in domestic leagues such as the IPL and England's P20 competition.

We officially have the first test casualty due to proliferation of T20s I guess. And will his drinking and lack of discipline not affect his T20 participations?

You have to be responsible for your own actions, don't blame the management if you cant keep up with the team rules.

I'll bet Symonds was the only one who has had several warnings though. Honestly don't know why you defend him. He's 34 (!?), responsible for his own actions, and has let the team down several times before.

Exactly how hard is it to conform to team rules when they earn you hundreds of thousands (if not millions) or dollars a year.

Symonds let himself down, he was with his teammates not his babysitters. I love watching Symonds play, but there's noone to blame here except himself.

It'll probably give him something in common with the crowd.

Were saying on the radio that he should try to break Boony's record on the plane home.

That's the direction his career is heading unfortunately.
