Fellow UTD supporters. Although its clear no major revamping of the squad is needed. What is the feeling about the futures for Giggs, Scholes, Anderson, Nani?

GIGGS - Probably has another season left in him, his role is likely to be either a deep-lying playmaker, since he has shown a strong defensive game regularly this season. Also you could play him as an attacking mid-fielder still. But overall is no longer a first XI player.

SCHOLES - Seemed this season to be losing some of his passing touch & with defensive game really never a strenght. I think its best if the big man retires this off-season.

NANI - He is going through the same inconsistent patch that Ronaldo was n between 2003/04 up until 2005/06. Would persist with him & since his talent is clear. If United really want a natural left-wing replacement for Giggs they could buy one without selling him IMO.

ANDERSON - Well he was brougth as an attacking mid-fielder, showed good signs in that role intially. But for both club & country has transformed his game to a deeper role. He still needs to improve his defensive game though, what happened againts Barca he can't afford to do again. Next season is key for him.

Plus Tevez better has to stay & we need Hargreaves 100% next season.

A fella on setanta news made a good point today, no matter what happens at Newcastle they'll never blame Shearer they'll always blame Mike Ashley. Thoughts? I think its quite true.

If Alan Shearer walked into a Newcastle's fans house, and shot all of his family, the fan would be on the news the next day saying that they deserved to die, and would then probably chant SHEEEEEEARRRRRRRERRRRRRRRR

If I was Giggs i'd retire this off season, He holds pretty much every record at utd, all these records were supposed to never be broken, after Charlton had spent the last 3-4 years of his career dragging a utd team down. That side lived on former glories and European cups, and ended up in Div 2. People used to ask how a team could win the Euro Cup then end up in Div2 6 years later. the answer was because it was the same players, now past it still playing for themselves and not the good of the team.

Giggs could still do a job for us, probably would, but should think 'Well, might aswell bow out after a CL final, in a season I was lauded by my collegues and lifted the title. Time for the future generation.' Unfortunately the only way is down for him now, and thats not how us fans want to remember him. Reckon its time to see him next to Fergie in the dugout, helping shape our future.

Scholes, well you could say the same, but i think he'll move on this summer instead. Has stated still feels good enough for regular prem footie, and feels a bit disenchanted by the rotation system. Believe his contract is up this summer n all (if not, next summer). Stoke being talked about as a possible transfer destination, but tbh I wouldnt be surprised to see him in a Burnley shirt next year. Being hugely family orientated, and still living around Oldham, think it'd be a more attractive proposition than moving his family. Also if a coaching role is thrown into the bargain, think he'd go for it (has stated he wants to stay in the game once he retires)

Nani needs to buck the **** up, learn to be a team player or **** off elsewhere. Despite possessing skill and talent, the fans havent warmed to him due to the selfish nature of his game. Now Ronaldo had that but had it drilled out of him, next year is make or break for Nani in that respect. Found himself sidelined due to it this year, and needs to take the hint. Learn to pass/cross rather than run/shoot and he's got a good future with us.

Anderson just needs to focus more. He's got the talent, and the fans appreciate it because he's got the workrate (unlike Nani), but its almost as if his mind is elsewhere sometimes. Problem stems from not having a senior midfielder as such to keep him focused, a Keane figure to scream at him or a Hargreaves to lead by example. Think the main problem has been too much expected of him with Hargreaves missing. He can do the defensive side, but its not his natural game, and with Carrick finding himself naturally drawn to attacking, he's left to try and clear up the pieces (nothing against Carrick attacking, thats how I see him at Utd, when Hargreaves is fit). Also playing alongside a shaky Scholes sometimes cant help.

Having lauded him as a more attacking midfielder, I would like to say if i'm ever going to be put against the wall, I want 6 Andersons taking the shots. Can escape in the dark when they shoot the lightbulbs out.

Had a great start to his Utd career, but started to tail off at the same time as some of our elder legends did. However Aston got the bulk of the stick for the performances. Rather than blame the fact that Charlton was too old and Best too drunk, Aston was accused of being in the side based on favourtism (his dad, alson John Aston, was a very fine player for utd during the 40's and 50's Busby team). Left for Luton before the team completely combusted.

Shows that short term fickle memories arnt just a trait of the modern fan.
Breaking his leg at the start of the following season didn't help either.

Decent appraisal.

Hmm, didnt know that, or rather, didnt digest it. Had a notion he'd been unlucky with injuries, but not a notion niggling enough to mention it.

Shame dont still have a book I had as a kid, had profiles on most players that played for utd after WWII upto the mid 80's. Think it covered pretty much everyone who played more than a handful of games (those who got the odd game in one season got dumped on one page, so the likes of Garth Crooks, Peter Beardsley and Barry Fry all got their mugs in there).

Ref didn't help our cause either.
We wouldn't even have been in the game for that long if the ref had called our goal for what it was - offside.

I don't know what you're talking about, unless it's the Hibbert yellow card incident, and even that didn't matter. He would've been owned there, card or no card.

So Carlo Ancelotti has walked (rather then sacked) as the manager of AC Milan, so I guess it will be a matter of days before he is named as Chelsea manager. Guess we haven't seen the last of Andriy Shevchenko in the Premier League then.

Nah, pretty sure your goal was alright

In what way? Was he meant to be marking Drogba for the first goal or something?
There were several bad calls in how we got fouled, and they didn't for practically the same thing.

I reckon Hibbert deserved the yellow he got, but the tackle that had happened before by the Chelsea player (Was it Essien?) and it was so much worse.

Hardly surprising.

Ancelotti confirmed as new Chelsea boss this morning. Ribery and Villa thought to be on his shopping list, though it will also be interesting to see if he brings any of his Milan boys with him.

Somewhat of an Oldham Legend, came through our youth system, then left and came back a couple of years ago, won the player of the year in 07-08. Think we said we would only offer him a 1 year deal and he wanted 2.
