I'll take Monaco in 4-5 because I'm not completely sold on Tsonga when it comes to clay.

Tommy took the first two sets, but Mayer is serving for the third now at 5-3. Hope he doesn't throw it away from here.

And Rogowska just served out the first 6-4 against Bondarenko which is huge. :) Hope she can finish her off and set up a third round clash with Radwanska.

Apparently he used to just not play at Roland Garros, and only until he started to up his ranking did he decide to do so.

Very weird considering he's French, but then again he's an interesting character.

Wondered why you had picked her out of the 961240114 Iron Curtain players, then checked and realised she's born in Melbourne.
As dinky-die as any of our tennis players come these days.

Plus, she lost to Alona at the Australian Open after being a set up, so it'd be nice for her to get even. As we speak she's up a break in the second. :)

Well, she didn't. 5-7 in the third. Geez.

Btw, it was the other Bondarenko (Kateryna). As said, 914014141 of them. Alona fell to Cibulková in the first round.

Roddick five-love up against Ivo Minazh.

Rogowska was a break up in the 2nd and gave it up, and was then 5-4 up in the 3rd and lost 5-7. Obviously been hanging around Dellaqua too much, because that was a bit of a choke.

Tsonga vs. Monaco been a see-saw battle.

Tsonga went in under-dog, but you'd think the French crowd will get him over the line.

Tsonga in 4 I reckon, but not confident. If Monaco is on, he's very tough to beat on clay.
:D

Exactly how I thought it'd be. Tsonga didn't do himself any favours when he was a break up in the 4th and let it go, and Monaco battled hard, but in the end talent, and the French crowd, got him over the line.

Entertaining match.

Heartbreak for Dokic. Looked like she had the match sealed before she succumbed to injury. Must be very serious, as it isn't like her to pull out.

Looks like Haas almost blew that 2 set lead against a nobody. Will be tough against Chardy next round, be surprised if he gets through it, but if he can should be nice for him to play against Federer.

Yes. I meant get even with them by beating the other sister.

Shame for her to lose, and heartbreak for Dokic as Jono said. Still, three Aussies through to the third round is a bit of a bonus.

Completely bottled it.
Watched the first two sets of Federer's match last night before bed.

Did anyone else get the impression he was taking the proverbial int he second set, and it backfired on him? It seemed he was holding easily, but was tinkering around with shots he ordinarily doesn't play as if he had one eye on later rounds. then Acasuso took his chance.

Very odd. Complete gas-up by Acasuso though in the third.

Funny you say that, because in his first round match, Federer was getting sprayed by the commentators for just playing his normal game, and not trying something new in the earlier rounds to improve his game.

It can be seen as arrogant or not giving respect to your opponent I guess, but I think its the right move from Roger. He needs to play more volleys particularly if he's going to take 3 sets from Nadal (that's if he gets that far - Novak stands in his way).

That's assuming Nadal gets past Hewitt...

Murray not doing great here, but I'm sure he'll win through in the end:unsure:

I've never understood why clay wasn't his surface. I mean English tennis has had a number of no.1s who were serve and volleyers so you understand why they can't perform on this surface, but Murray has a great all-round game. So does anyone know why he's fairly inept on this stuff?

The explanation I've heard is that he struggles with moving on it - since he has so little experience playing on it, exiting early at the French and preferring hard court tournaments to clay whenever possible.
