I agree that Messi was outshone by his team mates, some one like Iniesta. However, Messi made it count when it mattered with the awesome leap header to seal the tie. He has 38 goals this season and not some thing to be scoffed at.
Thought he had a very good game in an alien position, centre-forward. It was subdued Messi but he worked hard, linked-up fantastically with the midfield and still had time to do one outrageous piece of skill, when he killed a rocket fired in his vicinity mid-air dead (great header as well). Rightly, the Barca midfield has got most of the plaudits but I thought Eto’o was fantastic, gave Vidic a nightmare. Always questions around him against pace and power (Torres tore him a new one) but for a player of his undoubted quality, he was rank. Rio didn’t look at the races as well.

Fergie should put a fork in Giggs and Scholes...

Just watched the game..

Really dissappointing showing by United after we started really positively. Just went downhill after their first goal and we never really looked like properly threatening their goal. Fair play to Barca, they were class and played us off the park in the 2nd half.

The way the commentators went on about Messi.. Overated or what? Give me Iniesta over Messi any day. Thought VDS had a good game.

At fault for the first goal.

Was a good finish to be fair. Reckon Vidic was more at fault for that VDS. Had an excellent game after that though, couldn't do much about Messi's header though.

Thought he should have still down better as the strike (a toe poke) was straight at him.

Thierry pretty much has a complete set of trophies doesn't he? Must be in the running for the most decorated player in Europe right now.

Not sure he'd have the most honours in total, but between France and all his clubs he's probably got the widest range - he's won pretty much all he could have now at least once. Great player and well deserved.

BTW, I'm sure it's all very fun baiting United fans (I say that in all seriousness), but why do we get stick when we just reply to people baiting and get called whinging and whatever. Fair enough taking the piss out of United, everyone does that and it is usually vaguely funny.

Well, Barca deserved that, made us look positively amateur. We can get away with it against mid level prem teams, but come a big game a performance like that will always get destroyed.

VDS, at fault for both goals for me. The fact he got a hand to the first one makes it worse, because its always a half hearted soft hand that hardly deflects the ball, needs to stifen his arm up and make sure he deflects it. His attempts at saving shots are akin to trying to play a forward defensive using a bat made of paper, it'll just hit it and carry on through.

Second goal, as soon as the cross is hit he has to do one of two things. Either come out and claim/punch it (he's 6ft 7 to Messi's 5ft odd, simple battle to win) or be in a position to stop it looping in. In the end he decided on neither (or he spent so long deciding, which is a crime considering it wasnt a fizzed in cross), and didnt even get a hand up to stop a header which wasnt exactly fired.

Feet dont move, arms dont move. Liability of a keeper IMO

Liking the look of the England Under 21 team. Some top young talent that have a future, too bad Lennon & Wheather aren't fit. It would look very hot. Surprised Sturridge wasn't picked...
