Why should he get out? They're going to lose whatever, so he may as well get some time in the middle and some runs under his belt. No point chucking his wicket away as well.

Well if we go by that logic, the Windies might as well have just shaked hands when Ravi caught Gayle.

He wants to make sure that he finishes with a ODI average of over 35 so that you don't think his mediocre.

Seriously poor lower order the Windies have, dare I say the worst going? Pollard at 6 then Taylor, Benn, Ravi, Edwards.

They brought Fidel in, an extra frontline bowler, still got smashed and looked hopeless.

Chanders last hit a boundary 25 overs ago.

Considering he'd need around 35 consecutive ducks in order for his average to fall that low I'd say he needn't worry too much about it.

You don't believe that an ODi average of 35 in the modern era is pretty average/mediocre? How many of the superb batsmen of this era, that play properly in ODi's average 35 or less? Not many of them, Jayawardene's pretty much the only non-opening aggressive batsman who you'd regard in the top 25 batsmen of his era, to average 35 or less. All the top ODI proper batsmen average comfortably over 35. Tendulkar, Hayden, Ganguly, Kallis, Pietersen, Hussey, Chanderpaul, Lara, Symonds, Ponting etc etc all average comfortably above 35. There aren't many top class ODI batsmen averaging 35 or less.

A boundary for Chanderpaul :-O His first since the 8th over, maybe we'll see him playing some shots now, he's protected his average, now to put on a show, or at least try to.

Chanderpauls going to win this somehow just to annoy us.
I wish.

If anyone's interested Abdur Razzaq just hit 109 off 51 balls in a domestic T20 in Pakistan. 8 6's t'boot. Would be nice to see him in Pakistani colours again in the world T20, have really liked him ever since he hit Mcgrath for 5 consecutive 4s.
