Really good performance from Villa. Played Newcastle off the park.

Just need to keep it up for 4 more minutes.

Argh, **** it. Didn't deserve to draw the way they played in the end. Here's hoping to a quick return.

IIRC we've had the same 6 teams in the top 6 2 years in a row - is there a second cluster starting at the top?

Almost feel sorry for the Newcastle fans after that display. Just really weren't at the races and against a team who'd won once in about 15 too.

Only almost tho.

Delighted for Mike Ashley but feel for the rest of Geordieland - they don't deserve ****s like Ashley - but I suppose ultimately its self-inflicted

Have to say I'm not that delighted about it, certainly after Brown's cabaret act. CPR is right he looks more like he should be playing Vegas, rather then managing a football team.

All the gloating after he nearly utterly destructed his own team, seems a bit off.

Just hate seeing Owen like this. Really hope season rumors of him either going to Everton or Villa come through. He is still good enough & England still need him...

Hopefully Capello picks this squad in a few hours:

GK:

1. Green - he should start in both games, so we can see what he is about at Int level
2. Hart
3. Robbo

DEF:

4. JT
5. Rio
6. Upson
7. Woodgate/King - gotta pick one of em
8. A Cole
9. Bridge
10. Brown
11. Richards/Johnson

MID:

12. Stevie G
13. Lamps
14. Barry
15. Carrick
16. Walcott
17. Becks
18. SWP/Lennon
19. Matt Taylor - just for the sake of having a lefty

FORW:

20. Wazza
21. Ivanho
22. Gabby
23. Bent

How is he still good enough? Why do we need him?

Yes it would be nice to have the 1998 Owen back, but it would also be nice to have the 1990 Gascoigne, the 1996 Seaman and the 2001 Beckham... none of whom exist any more. Get used to it.
