Haha yeh NSW trying to give us Origin. They may be worried that Campese has been down a bit on form so the best they come up with is Luke Lewis who would be more picked for defence. Campese is pretty much as good in defence as Lewis but has a better attacking game (even out of form) than Lewis does.
The thing is you get the best out of Lewis anyway if you select him on the bench. If you pick Campese/Mullen at 6 and you feel Lewis would do a better job (he wouldn't) you can stick him there and you haven't lost anything (an interchange maybe). Locking him into one position means you lose out on his ability to plug any gaps that appear in the team.

Hopefully it's just smoke and mirrors. I take telegraph stories without direct quotes with a grain of salt.

Have a feeling its more because they want Wing in the team. IMO if they want to select both then they are better off with 6 Wing 14 Lewis.
But then I guess youd have a case where Wing would be playing 80 minutes when he would likely move into hooker in the second half to give Farah a rest then Lewis can play 20 minutes at five-eighth.
Don't think it would work, NSW are better off going with 6 Mullen 14 Lewis and let Wing watch on TV.

Agreed.

It's Origin ffs. Sure you want to cover your arse and pick utilities, but you shouldn't do it to the detriment of putting a better specialist player in their rightful position.

In a game like that, if there's an injury, other blokes WILL step up and cover, even though not as good as the original player - that's what representing your state or country is about. I remember Bowman a few years ago ont he ground with a serious knee injury, and he got up to make two crucial tackles, then got carted off.

With the Sharks and their money problems, I wonder how many players will be let go at the end of the season? If I were one of the higher wage earners and a year to go I would be asking my agent to put some feelers out there and speak to the club to see what the situation is.

Looks like NSW are desperate to find a backrower that can play 5/8. Even though they have two specialist 5/8 that can play backrow and one that is a better backrower then 5/8. Anasta would be tailored made for that role, yet they want anyone but him. Campese form is pretty worrying and wouldn't be confident in defence with Mullen and Wallace. Especially if Cooper isn't picked as well. Queensland backline would run straight through that, without even getting past 1st gear.

Would give Campese a shot, he got the potential to fill that spot long term, if they want a backrow type player at 5/8.

Also I don't see the big deal in having both Lewis and Wing off the bench, especially withhalf the backrowers are all sameish type players. Atleast that would give you more variety.

Campese isn't actually doing that badly. He needs a half, and as he show in City vs Country he can fill the 5/8th position easily.

If anything his average performance in City/Country is what got the question marks on him. Wing outperformed him in that match, quite easierly.

Yeah thats what i reckon, The amount of ball Country had early they should have piled on plenty more points then they did. Once the possession turned around City put on points easily. Thats were the concern is with him..

Personally i've never been convinced of Campese, He was starting to win me over at the start of the season but he is losing me very quickly again. I am getting the feeling he is one of those one season wonders (aka Leo Dynevor). In saying that i would be happy to give him 1st shot as he is really the only player (Soward aside) who has shone at 5/8 at any stage this season.

I Would not be against putting Wing at 5/8 either, IMO thats without doubt his best position, he has no defensive worries and can spark plenty in attack...

All i ask is please dont play Luke Lewis at 5/8....

Campese isnt going that badly really, theres probably been two noticable things about why people would say he is struggling, firstly hes been play way too much first reciever, he needs to be wider and create a bit more. Secondly he's been chained to the left side of the field and the halfback to the right. He was at his best last year when he popped up anywhere, if the game plan goes back to that I think he'll shine again.

I need some help!

With a lack of news I need some information for my dreamteam.
1. Is Farah likely to play this week (as my captain he really scored big last week and I'd hate to sideline him, only to see him play)?

2. Is Jeremy Smith likely to play this week or soon? I might look at a trade

3. I have to cheap backline players Rapana of Titans(c-w) and Lewis of Tigers(5/8) who have not played a game all season. Are they likely to soon; should I trade. I also have Isa from Melb(c-w); so with three cheap backline players who don't actually play, who out there would be a good trade?

4. I have a toss up for selection in my team of Idris or Winterstein. While Idris did better last week (when I had Wint in the team) which is likely to give me better value for the remainder of the season? Or should I just base it on, who has the crappier opponent for the week.

Any help would be so appreciated, thanks
