Another specialist bowler is needed in that lineup is what I meant. Yeah he'd be 4th seamer. No problem with that. Would like to include another bowler though as the batting should be string enough to not need to put Bravo that low in the batting. How so?
In a potential all seam attack of Taylor/Edwards/Rampaul/Bravo.
Bravo along with Taylor is the most disciplined bowler, partnership breaker & when conditions suite i.e Manchester 04, Adelaide 05. He can be very dangerous.
But he still is only a 4th seamer. He aint good enough play as a 3rd seamer, so that suggestion would throw the bowling balance of further.
Of course he is, Sulieman Benn is ****ing rubbish. One decent test on a helpful pitch doesn't change that. Not sure if Jaggernauth when it comes to international cricket, really is an outright better spinner Benn.
The thing is, when you look at the Tests the WI have played at home and away against England, Benn was right up there with Edwards and Taylor as the leading wicket-takers, so even though I'm not a fan of Benn, I think he's done enough to merit being among those names immediately pencilled in for the Test series against Bangladesh....Not sure if Jaggernauth when it comes to international cricket, really is an outright better spinner Benn. Of course he seems that maybe in helpul conditions he would probably get more purchase than Benn, but other than that, the tall Bajan is better in most other areas TBH.
No way is Shillingford better than Benn come on, he aint even better than Rawl Lewis for the windwards.
Miller hmm, WI seem to prefer him in ODI's but don't think he has anything over Benn really. They probably about even.
Haven't seen Brown & Wallace so no comment....
Seems to me he can do one part of the job- taking advantage when conditions suit- but not the other part- keeping it tight and chipping in when they don't.Of course he is, Sulieman Benn is ****ing rubbish. One decent test on a helpful pitch doesn't change that.
He doesn't. Alongside Gower, he is close to useless.Talking of Benn, I find it bizarre that the Sky Commentary team, Botham especially, rate Benn very highly. Makes me wonder if he actually watches the cricket. Botham and Hussain's punditry often winds me up, and makes them come across an incredibly mis-informed. Hussain's constantly talking up the need for out and out pace in the England Test side, talking up names like Mahmood, Harmison and even bloody Woakes the other day. To list Woakes in a list of bowlers who are supposedly genuinely quick is baffling and makes me wonder if he actually watches County Cricket.
I have actually seen Shillingford bowl. I was in Trinidad in 2004 & 2006 saw him bowl in a FC matches - and don't think he's better than Lewis. The notion is he is probably the biggest turner of in WI i don't agree with, since i think that accolade goes to Jaggernauth.Shillingford is the biggest turner of a cricket ball in the Caribbean. He has much better stats than Rawl Lewis so I don't know where that came from.
FC records in this 2000s era for WI bowlers & bats hardly mean much really, since as we both know since Gayle & Sarwan debuted most players have been picked on talent. If you are going by stats and perfromance over the last 3 years you would have to go with Miller or Jaggernauth. If you were going with raw ability you would have to choose Wallace.
But the batting isn't strong enough. Having Bravo @ 6 & Ramdin @ 7, in test matches aint a recipe for success.Another specialist bowler is needed in that lineup is what I meant. Hussain is rubbish at commentary, and it seems, judging players. One of the best bowlers under his leadership was a RFM bowler names Andrew Caddick ffs, you'd think he'd think about what he's saying.Talking of Benn, I find it bizarre that the Sky Commentary team, Botham especially, rate Benn very highly. Bowling wins matches though. But the batting isn't strong enough. Having Bravo @ 6 & Ramdin @ 7, in test matches aint a recipe for success.
In Yorkshire no one can hear you scream.Hopefully its Morgan and not Bell who plays tomorrow. (hopefully it doesn't rain either, not much shelter on the western terrace)
Promising youngster who had an encouraging debut season last year and has started this season very well. One for the future possibly, but he is no more than Hoggard/Sidebottom pace which makes Nasser's comment so odd.Hussain is rubbish at commentary, and it seems, judging players. Actualy, solid gritty not-as-talented-as-some batsmen seem to have a thing for fast bowlers. Mark Richardson clearly wants to have *** with Mitchell McClennaghan, who atm is about as much use as Harmison (reminds me of his a bit actualy)/
Who even is Woakes?
I really like Hussain on commentary. Perhaps it's just taste. And as for Woakes, a bit early yet but I reckon he's the one of the brightest young prospects in county cricket atm. He's certainly getting the results.Hussain is rubbish at commentary, and it seems, judging players.
