Connell appears to be a kiwi
Indeed he is. Irish enough though.

You will get these crazy spells occasionally with Peter Connell. He's much more well-suited to the longer format because he can force wickets but is a little too expensive for one-dayers, often going for runs and not very effective at the death. But on the days when everything clicks, he's a genuine strike bowler that can completely run through a side.

He actually has a FC bowling average of 11 after his intercontinental cup exploits last year.

I think Kent need to knock over Warks for less than 180 odd to go through. So once Warks pass that, Kent will just give-up.
Just had a look at the table, Warwickshire will go through if they win, but they're in a bit of trouble here, rain's about and they're behind on D/L now. Wickets are tumbling, is this out as well?

Interesting scenes at Edgbaston - off for rain with a tie on Duckworth Lewis.

Middlesex will go through at Warwickshire's expense if there's no further play.

And the game is duly abandoned, Giles looked none too pleased. Looked optimistic with covers being removed, but they only wanted to move the hover cover to the ODI wicket

Meanwhile Mahmood gets smashed in the last over to give Essex victory in a tight one at OT, no effect on the group though

Wow, Scotty Newman. :-O

Always surprised that his average in one day cricket was so slow. Such an attacking player, you would think he would thrive with the fielding restrictions.
We should pay keep attention him, Trott along with young Denly for the remainder of the season, as potential ENG ODI opener options.

Oh dear, crap draw...finish top of the group losing two matches, both to essex...low and behold, get drawn against Essex again in the quarter finals.

Were an average side so we were likely to go out in the quarters anyway but if we'd drawn anyone but essex the odds at the bookies must surely have been better, was gonna put money on us to lose that way i'd be a bit happy both ways but Essex will probably be favourites so its hardly worth it

Yes tough draw for Lancs. A tie I expect Essex to win, plenty of one-day pedigree in the side, and it would not surprise me should they win it again this year. The opening attack of the consistently accurate David Masters, and the more pacey Graham Napier, the improving Chris Wright with the more than useful Danish Kaneria. In today's game at OT, Flower and Ten Doeschate making up the fifth bowler, and Lancs will have to make them pay more in the QF than the 52 runs they took them for today.

Very strong one-day batting line-up for Essex today aswell. Napier failed at four, but may come off on Saturday, if he doesn't there are reliable performers in the middle order in the form of Flower, Walker, Foster etc, with Ten Doeschate still to come at 8.

Tall order for Lancs. don't believe they have enough in their side to knock out the Champions.

Good call. They couldnt. Nice chase by Yorks. Meaker got smashed, Vaughan got a few and Naved laid carnage with the bat.
And Nel. First six overs of his went for only 14 but his last sixteen balls hemorrhaged 33 runs.

Poor and Elliott has been useless.

Pretty uninspired choice by Sky regarding the quarter final television choice. Probably the least interesting quarter final but not far too travel for sundays ODI.

I'm heading down to OT for the FP quarter in a couple of hours, with the forecast for warm sunshine. Should be a good game.

Not overly opimistic of our chances, at least Chapple is back. Should be a decent crowd there today they have reduced prices and its only a quid for a kid.
