And add in the fact that the English batsmen are better then the West Indies batsmen. So that makes the English bowlers job's abit easier then the West Indies bowlers jobs. The Lords track didn't look too bad when England were batting on it though tbh. The ball wasn't carrying through, and it took a superb spell of bowling from Fidel Edwards to give West Indies some momentum. I'm fairly certain that England will bowl better on here than the West Indies have, not exactly a top class attack that the West Indies have is it. Edwards is really the only consistently impressive performer. Taylor shows glimpses of brilliance but then is mediocre the rest of the time, Baker is abit of a nothing bowler, Benn is ok at best and then you've got the part-timers. I think England will perform far better with the ball than West Indies have.
At Lords Windies dropped 7 catches in 1 session FFS, the ball was swinging all day and England would have been all out for 220-250 if they had fielded at all well. I knew we were in trouble by the end of the 1st day.The Lords track didn't look too bad when England were batting on it though tbh. The lack of swing on show will either have been due to the ball not being a swinging ball, or the fact that Taylor and Edwards haven't got their wrist position correct to allow the ball to swing. I'm almost certain that there have been studies written that disprove the whole 'atmospheric conditions cause swing' hypothesis. Sure I heard it somewhere.Jerome Taylor and Fidel Edwards are natural swing bowlers who moved the ball pretty much all day at Lords. Today they have not got a single ball to swing.
Humidity and overhead conditions have a huge amount to do with how much it swings and it is cold today, the clouds are high and therefore swing has been minimal.
Or maybe it's the poor bowling and flat pitch?Hundred for Cook. 2nd of the year, maybe he's finally worked out how to go on from a start to make a score!
Well I guess thats something rightHe's not even been able to cash in on flat decks against rubbish bowling in the past though, often getting out for between 40 and 50.
Cook gets another 100 on a flat deck, shouldn't count as a 100 really.
