Apparently Carmelo's fiance had the n-bomb dropped at her a few times by Mavs fans.
I'm truly ashamed of the behavior of the fans. The city of Dallas has a stain on its reputation now that will be hard to erase. However, I must say I have doubts about the racial taunts. I have no doubt that Carmelo's fiancee was verbally harased. I do have doubts that the harassment was racist in nature. I have been to PLENTY of Mavs games. I can assure you that the crowd there doesn not consist of the stereotypical "red necks" that will hurl racist abuse. If someone did do that, they are likely to get a beat down from the sizable (in numbers) black fans in attendance. Here's a report from a fan that claims the fiancee is to blame:

LaLa Vazquez and her bodyguard were the instigators.

Peggy (who asked that her last name not be used) strongly denied that any Mavs fans used racial slurs or threatened Vazquez, a VH1/MTV personality. She said the only time any Mavs fan touched Vazquez was when a girl in Peggy's group accidentally brushed against her while reaching for a purse underneath her seat.

"Don't you ever (beep) touch me again!" Vazquez responded, according to Peggy, who added that Vazquez also flicked soda on them at that point.

Again, I am not defending the behavior of the fans which as I stated was shameful. I just have a hard time believing it was racist in nature.

As much as I dislike KG and Pierce their team doesn't quit. They went on a 17-3 run in the last 5 minutes to win this game. They don't quit, gotta give them that.
Why do you dislike Garnett and Pierce?

How anyone can dislike the Celtics is beyond me.

Year goes by, another year goes and then another and so on...one would hope that Mavs are going to be sporting someday and give credit where due, but they get worse with each passing year. Pathetic owner, pathetic team and equally pathetic fans.

dallas needs a better starting center than erick dampier, he has to be one of the most overpaid players in the nba, carlisle, nowitzki and howard can be retained, kidd shows flashes of his old self but he is clearly not the player he was and the rest of the team is in need of a major overhaul if cuban wants to bring a championship to dallas in the near future....

Congrats to the Nuggets. They throughly outplayed the Mavs in this series. They will be a handful for whoever they face next.

I think before they try to win NBA Title, Dallas needs to win the respect of Basketball fans. The thuggery that has been shown by its owner in the stands has really been very depressing and makes their game almost unwatchable.

Also, almost every great franchise has been run by professionals and not by owners. As soon as the owners star interfering too much into everyone's daily job, they run the risk of becoming the next 'Raiders', sooner or later. Mavs may never become Raiders, but they looking as dysfunctional as their football team, thanks to the stupid ownership.

Congratulations to Denver Nuggets for an excellent series win, I missed it but only because I was watching the magicians on ice, with no. 87 destroying the caps. :)

yeah cuban is a real dick and he isn't helping the mav's image by behaving the way he does, fusion why do you guys like him so much? from what i've seen, he is at best irritating and at worst worthy of utter contempt...he is bringing the very game he professes to love into disrepute...

Eric Dampier isn't going anywhere. He's a black hole on offence and the Mavs still owe him $23 million over the next two years. To get rid of him they'd need to take back some bad bad contracts in an economy like this. At the end of next season however unless there's a miracle upturn financially his $13m expiring contract will be a huge chip.

Even if they do let Kidd walk they're only 2 million under the luxury tax next season which will be eaten up by their first rounder, which means free agency will be restricted to MLE or minimum players and that's without resigning Bass. I'd try and package Howard or Terry with their other bad contract in Matt Carrol to see which takers are there. Someone might nibble but it looks like throwing all their eggs in the Jason Kidd basket is a gamble that will hurt them for a while.

Jeez, Binding Contracts are such big pain in NBA, it really forces teams from being competitive. In 2008-09, Kidd, Iverson, Steve 'Who' Francis, Starburry, Tracy 'injured' Mcgrady and O'Neal Twins (that's 7) were among the top 10 paid players. http://hoopshype.com/salaries.htm

They could be a millstone around your neck or as seen in AI's case a huge trading chip if they are expirings. Surprised Miami couldn't do better with Marion's contract than JO who could be a $23m DNP next season if he breaks again.

Going to be a bloodbath when season ticket renewals come up again for next season, teams will hurt big time, Dampier could lead the Mavs to a real nice player or picks down the line like Kwame did for the Lakers.

Congrats to Denver. Hopefully I'll get to watch some of their games against Lakers/Houston as I really haven't watched much of them this year at all.

Haha Ever heard of Grant hill and his 93 Mill contract with Magic ? It took years before Magic could recover.

I, and I think most Mavs fans, don’t like Cuban’s antics. We wish he would cut it out and act in a more dignified manner. Unfortunately, that’s just part of his persona. He’s like the drunk annoying fan in the stands who is always screaming at the refs and opposing players. Except he owns the team. But if the choice is to accept Cuban with all his faults or to go back to the type of owners we had before that made the Mavericks the worst franchise in professional sports, give me Cuban. Cuban truly loves the team and wants to win. He’s not just in it for the money. The way he turned around the Mavs from the depths of the abyss to their current status is nothing short of amazing. And he’s not as interfering in the basketball operations side as another famous Dallas owner: Jerry Jones. Now if only Cuban would realize that the biggest obstacle in his dream of a championship and respect for the Mavs is himself, everything would turn out great!

Bad long term contracts are a different kettle of fish to bad expiring contracts. Dallas only have to put up with one more year of Dampier before he becomes a decent bit of trade bait.

And Grant Hill was a 7 time All-Star, no-one knew he would end up being made of balsa wood when he went to Orlando. Giving him the money wasn't a bad decision, just incredibly unlucky.
