I'm still looking for "How does this lardarse get picked to bowl FM for Yorksire, never mind his country?"I've started a thread on the subject. I don't know how to post a link to it though.
Bresnan looks like he carries it pretty well; I think he's just naturally on the chunky side rather than being genuinely unfit. I'm sure his fitness levels have been monitored as Flower actually mentioned pre-game that they wanted to bring Patel in for this Test but couldn't as he hadn't met his fitness goals.I'm still looking for "How does this lardarse get picked to bowl FM for Yorksire, never mind his country?"
Lionel Baker clocked over 89mph this test. Something strange is going on...Good pace for a fat lad tho, it must be said. Just cracked 90mph.
Probably first time I can recall 4 England seamers who could all crank it up to rapid in the one team.
I would of opened with Anderson and Bresnan. Broad did a good job in the first innings but I would say those 2 are the most suited to the new ball.Bresnan looks like he carries it pretty well; I think he's just naturally on the chunky side rather than being genuinely unfit. All that aside, I reckon he's bowled pretty well. I like the look of his action (I'd be interested on Goughy's thoughts on it compared to Onions's - I actually think it looks a lot stronger and repeatable TBH) and his line's been impecable. I reckon he'd have been dangerous had he got a crack with the newer ball. Judging by his season-by-season figures his batting's improved out of sight in recent times too so, despite it being early days, I think he's a pretty handy backup for Flintoff.
Yeah, Ravi's registering around 80-81mph when his normal speed is 74-5mph too. Becoming more inclined to think it's a generous speed gun now, tbh.Lionel Baker clocked over 89mph this test. Something strange is going on...
Quite. A ball from Onions in that last over definitely gave Ramdin the hurry up, yet clocked 82.2mph only.Yeah giving up on the speed-gun, tbh....
This match will not make it to Sunday. West Indies have no chance.Losing those wickets in quick succession before lunch hurt whatever thin hopes there are of drawing. Seen that there should be a lot of rain on Sunday so here's hoping.
I would be rather surprised if it made it to tomorrow. If it did the spectators would get some money back cause I could not see there being more than 10/15 overs.People with tickets for Saturday will be hoping these last few wickets go down pretty sharpish so at least they can get their money back.
True....but if they're met with this lineup and they play anything like they did during the first two tests in South Arica then I think it'll get pretty messy.Steady. 'Stralia ain't quite what they were either.
Harsh on Onions too, doubt he'll be a world beater but he's moving it both ways at a decent lick.
Modest oppo, but the bowling has gone about as well as I dared hope for.
