T20 is so bloody unpredictable at times.
Iam compelled to comment here.Thats what makes T20 so exciting. Anybody can win on any given day and you do not know what to expect.
Deccan winning by 19 runs. There goes in drain, mumbai's chances of making the last 4, possibly.

Mumbai don't deserve to really. Weak team, and unbelievably reliant on their openers. Every team is to an extent, but you just can't have that much reliance on Sachin or Sanath to win you the game every time.

IPL is the domestic structure. Pro20 will have a couple foreign players per team, just like the IPL.
Foreign players play in England all the time in all formats.

I don't think they are planning any IPL like extravaganza. Especially with them cutting ties with Standford with the crazy idea of joining county sides to form district teams. Thank god..

The Champions League is sanctioned, and it is 50% is owned by BCCI, 30% by CA, and 20% by CSA.
Another fault with the ICC then. Since they haven't sanctioned it as the games governing body.

It technically isn't as rebel as the ICL, given that current players would be involved. But its an unnecessary T20 tournament - in an already jam-packed schedule.

Haha, what ultimatums were those? "Let us play cricket in our own country using our own facilities or......."
No dawg. The 4-international player quota. What else??

If the ICC really had total control to make decisions - it would have been clear to those at the top, given the how the T20 WC in SA was such an eye-opener to how important T20 was going be in cricket's future.

India's intention to establish the IPL shouldn't have been sanctioned unless it was going to be the Premier league of cricket. Since India is the best nation to hold such a tournament ,where for just a few months international ties could have put on hold. So that all the best players in the world could participate.

Instead given India's power in the game combined with excitment ATT of T20s after the WC, the ICC didn't do that thus the IPL was created too hastily.

So what we have currently is the IPL is being "fronted" as major T20 tournament, but really just promoting India youngsters, which for a cricketening perspective is wrong.

Buchanan clearly realises that the quota rule doesn't make sense & banishing would make the IPL so much better. Which is pretty obvious.

Aussie, you're way off here.

IPL is a domestic league. The Champions League will involve all the winners of the domestic leagues (BigBash in Aust, T20 in England, Pro20 in South Africa).

Intl players can play in any league, it just happens that IPL is where they are offering a ridiculous amount of money, hence why most intl players are there.

So than how is IPL different?

They have sanctioned it, half of the ICC boards are involved in it.

It's an Indian domestic tournament, you're making it out to be something it's not.

Harmeet Singh is village. He really is medium, bout same pace as an Afridi quicker ball (probably slower). He gets some swing though but it is so gentle and from the hand which makes him useless.
He does get it in the right areas with a good seam but the pace is just too slow. It is weird though, the run up and action don't look awful to me. The follow through in particular actually looks quite good.

No particular replies to this post but thought I'd weigh in on the debate...

I think that people are too dogmatic in their approach towards the IPL. It is a premier domestic competition, encompassing the stars from the world whilst developing Indian talent as an underlying purposes. Simply because it strikes a balance does not make it in the wrong.

Right, I can't wait for you to tell me how I should enjoy my cricket.
Nope IPL is not abt whatever you want it to be. For the sake of argument, you can even say that you can call USA - United States of Assholes as you want USA to be that way but that's not what it is .... IPL is the India's domestic version of T20 tournament. It's not hard to see what the teams stand for when you see which cricketing associations are associated with the teams!

DC are back on track with a win against MI, who look clueless when put under pressure. I had made a post on them the last time they lost so nothing much to add to that

That analogy doesn't make any sense. It's a sport. I can enjoy my sport however I like.

you can enjoy your sport however you like but that doesn't change what IPL (or Ranji trophy for that matter) stands for!

there is no point in trying to bring in stuff like because I like 'blah blah', I can do 'blah blah' because it's my wish

That's because they have to worst local talent going around, they have no good Indian players.
Yeah and most people or fans are trying to blame JB, what's he suppose to do. He can't coach a team in the space of one week.
John Buchanan was involved in the team selection too. JB is the most responsible guy as he is the one who seems to be running the show.

Not Terrible
JB is the captain of a sinking ship. The ship was full of holes when it left port, he couldn't repair them and now its 'man the life boats'. There is only much the captain can do when the ship is going under to begin with.

Irrelevant to the issue at hand. Posters are enjoying their cricket by following their favorite players, and don't care about the team. Only you have a problem with that.
