Modi about technical time out said:
"It's not frozen yet but we are looking at two aspects. There will be two two-and-a-half-minutes break per innings, so the break in all during an innings will be of five minutes," Modi told NDTV. "The first two-and-a-half-minute break will be just after the Powerplay [6 overs] and the second to be taken by the fielding side at any time.
this seems to be more reasonable

Also think a number of the Indian contingent in the Kolkata squad need to take some reasonability. Ganguly, Kartik, Agarkar and Sharma really haven’t performed, particularly Ishant (he cost how much?).

Just remembered that Charl Langeveldt is a Knight Rider, can’t believe he isn’t getting a gig. Just look at his record...

Ishant hasn't performed? I thought he'd been excellent this tournament until last night?

Wouldn't mind seeing stats, but everytime I've seen him he's bowled well.

one of the bummers of IPL is how some of the overseas fans react. Follow the IPL for what it is and not just because a player for your country is participating in it. For example, McCullum is just another Knight Rider like Agarkar is. If you are supporting KKR then you should be supporting everyone there and not following how McCullum performs or say Vettori does for DD .... Same when we here comments like Australians are doing well. Huh!

I think its probably a bit early. The more players shuffle around though, and trading becomes normal, it may eventually result in some people liking teams. But as long as intl cricket is the premium form of the game, it'll always be natural for ppl to support their national teams' players.

Just don't hate the IPL if your team's players aren't getting a go or not doing well

Why?

I, for example support Bangalore but also support certain players, mostly Australian, even to the point I'd want them to succeed against Bangalore (unless it was a final or must win game). In the domestic comp here I also support the success of certain players a lot more closely than any one team (even my home team Victoria) and the same with the English domestic scene. I don't see why it particularly matters.

IPL [or cricket for matter] is abt team first. When a large portion of a population is supporting the entire team, it looks out of place when 'some' only stand up for players of their country. Take MI for example, Most ppl in Mumbai would be supporting Jayasuriya as much as Tendulkar and hoping for both of them to succeed. Same would be the case for DC fans supporting Gilly and Gibby.

For me, it's shallow when ppl start calling teams ******** just because player of his country is not selected. Who cares if your player is the best in your country, he is just another player in the IPL, who just like other players is playing for 'his' IPL team and not NZ/OZ/whatever

Na IPLs all about the spectacle and nothing about the teams.
not for the Indian fans, whose domestic competition it is

such belief by some of the overseas fans following IPL is one of the reasons why I said they are bummers

I don't really see it as an issue. It's not really for anyone to tell anyone else why they should or shouldn't follow a sport. As others have mentioned, there's little reason at this early stage why anyone should support a certain team, in fact the primary way it is marketed in Australia is 'Warne vs Gilchrist', not so much Rajasthan vs Deccan because they understand that the only connection Australians have to the sport, at this stage, is the Australian players.

And personally I doubt it's even limited to international fans. Take a guy like Jono, I have a sneaking suspicion he'd love to see his favourite players like Tendy and Ishant pulling apart his side (Bangalore?).

I agree with you some silly comments come out, however it's still understandable and just another day on Cricket Chat :)

I originially cheered for Rajasthan because of Dimi and Watson, not sure what I will/would do if they move in the next round. But I don't see it as disrespectful to the IPL, I back whichever counties I'm interested in players in over here for our domestic competition. (mainly as I don't have a county, not really living near one) but I still enjoy going to matches.

yep silly comments do come out and its understandable but it looks ******** to me at times when we see for example a fan of KKR [I am not one] feeling bad abt his team's loss or when someone is doing an analysis on KKR's performance and then a Kiwi coming on and saying how good McCullum is [and what he has done for NZ] when his failures so far is one of the reasons why KKR struggled!

It's about whatever you want it to be - whatever you enjoy. I enjoy watching fast bowling from all teams, and I don't give a crap if people don't like that.

What's the big deal? They enjoy it in their way. You can wear your team emblem if you want.

Hah, all of ODI and T20 is shallow, and IPL definitely so.

its interesting to note that there are number of people who care nothing about IPL but are very much interested in pointing out the negatives alone

I only keep track of the IPL to see how the NZ players are going. So the IPL has been pretty crap so far.

I'm just glad McCullum is going through such a poor run while wearing a Knight Riders uniform instead of a Black Caps one.

Some one said that Buchanan shouldn't be blamed as coach as he can't do much if his team is failing abysmly in the field. Well Buchanan deserves to get flack. He first introduces the multiple captain theory which totally destabalises the team and shifts focus from performance to captaincy. Then he makes moves such as sending one of India's best openers and batsman with good technique - Aakash Chopra back home based on a few games. It is not as if he has loads of batsmen waiting in the wings to bat for him. Ganguly as captain was a simple choice. Why complicate it and make some one new a captain when you have India's most successful captain there to lead you. He played with his heart on the sleeve for India and plays with even more passion, if that's possible for Bengal, like Tendulkar for Mumbai (Tendulkar averages 80-100 in FC when he plays for Mumbai).
Spot on for me, just thought that the captaincy thing was just blown out of proportion. Ganguly was the clear choice, easily the biggest mistake KKR could have ever made. On top of that team selections has been pretty crap. Henriques gets a shot ahead of Mortaza or Mendis, especially when spinners have done reasonably well this year.

Ishant was pretty good up until yesterday. He was shocking last nite straying everything on leg stump to Gambhir and Warner. He should have known better especially as they both play for India and Delhi.
