Whilst that was disappointing from Chennai, awesome to see Hyderabad firing.

Now if only Bangalore could get their asses in gear.

DC makes it 4 in a row .... Their guys are in top form!

MI game is next. I hope Tendulkar takes a cue from DC openers and plays his cricket freely rather than being calculative. Go for it and play your best, if you get out or lose in the process then no worries!

There is a plan- Sanath goes ballistic, while Sachin plays a sheet-anchor role. Maybe once Sanath is out, Sachin can step up a gear.

I'd like your thoughts on this- the domination of the IPL by Deccan Chargers suggests ominous signs for the Indian T20 prospects. This team depends heavily on Gilchrist, Gibbs, Fidel and Styris (or Dwayne, when he plays), with a little help from Rohit, RP and Pragyan. While the last three have done quite well, except RP, the others have been modest in comparison to their international counterparts. On the other hand, teams that play more cohesively, such as Punjab and Rajasthan, have been quite disappointing. Likewise, we find that in the Chennai team, the overseas players play a full role, while the locals either bowl less than four overs and the Indian batsmen bat at low positions.

I actually liked the look of that team in the last match, with their Indian bowlers getting a few wickets for not too many.

Hilarious scene there with cheerleaders boxing with puffy tiger mascots. Talk about contrasts here...

Sachin won the toss and opted to bat. He said the wicket will aid the bowlers later, so he chose to bat first and set a target.

I am not really impressed with their plan as it depends on the day who is playing well. If it's Sanath who has to go for it every time then it may not work out as on some days as he may fail. they both have to start out playing positively and the one who is doing better on the day should take over and the other should carry on once the other guy departs

The success of DC is not largely due to its overseas players but India guys have contributed equally be it Rohit with the bat, RP and Ojha with the ball. Gilly and Gibbs are top class players so when they are in form teams will try to leverage on them

Same goes for other teams, the overseas players are highly ranked players with some of them being/been amongst the top 5 in their teams. Which is the reason why they play full role. You have to contrast their performances with the top 5-6 Indian players rather than comparing them with domestic players!

If there was a format where individuals can make a difference in cricket then its T20. I would look at which team has more guys in form rather than looking at which team looks strong on paper

No, I believe they said the plan was, IF Sanath goes out, Sachin plays sheet anchor.
I believe that as the experienced guy both of them should looking to take charge and leave the anchoring to the likes of Duminy or Dhawan! Because if one of them gets going, he could single-handedly win the game for MI and imagine what if both of them get going lol

IMO, their plan should be that one of Sachin or Sanath, who is playing well on the day, try to bat out the opposition, while other can support. If both of them get going then as I said there is nothing like it! If they fail then others can chip around and get a respectable score because MI's bowling is pretty good!

I don't disagree with you, but from what Sachin said, it seemed the plan was that they both go hard from the start, and if one of them falls, then the other drops anchor (in a T20 sort of way) and looks to be there at the end.

It just happens that most of the time this is Sachin, as Sanath goes out after blazing first.

4.3 Sharma to Tendulkar, SIX, uff, shades of Andy Caddick there from the 2003 world cup, short and wide, chest high, Sachin goes leg side, and pulls it with ease, smooth over midwicket

That is an awesome reference, and I remembered the exact ball and shot he is talking about.

Good stuff Cricinfo.

Yep - both brilliant shots. Got into position instantaneously, but did not premeditate it.

this is heights of self promotion.... he should be having cricketers there and not himself. how many go to see him play cricket in charity games, put cricket first!

LOL @ SRK being on the front page. That's so hilarious.

I like the guy, even if he is being a bit of a self-loving tosser. I can't help it.

this is how MI opening pair should be going .... try to bat the other team out, you guys are good at that and have done it over the years!
