Got a chance to read some of the articles at Cricinfo's "IPL Page 2".........the articles by Tishani Doshi who is supposedly a "Poet" and a journalist are a bit strange to say the least......Madam also happens to be writing Murali's biography.

In one article "We don't need no pretty faces" she calls the IPL's search for the mesmerising woman ***ist and two articles down the line she writes "In defence of cheerleaders" about how "dancing girls" don't erode Indian values & she even tells feminists that they should have better things to do than to protest about the cheer leaders..........a bit two-faced don't you think?? How can our "poetess" and journalist consider a sort of beauty contest ***ist and "dancing girls"(her own words) not ***ist. I much rather read the articles of Mischief Gal Rebecca Lee than this resident airhead poetess who I feel does not even understand cricket that well either(madam claims to have rekindled her love of cricket after being paid by cricinfo to turn in a sort of blog).

Depends where they are in the country.

Will be fine from rain once they move from Cape Town and Durban.

It does not rain inland during the winter.

Durban is usually very good during winter, it hardly rains at all and unlike Gauteng, it doesn't get cold.

Durban has the highest rainfall of any of the cities used in April/May. Suprisingly more than Cape Town (I looked)

Of course, as you say, the downfall of Gauteng having zero rain is that is is freezing in the morning and at night. Days are fine though.

Hindsight says, the move to SA had more to do with the Political handshake and almost nothing to do with the weather.

TBH, it was the only possible option. It couldnt realistically have been hosted in England.

That is a minor reason.

Mainly due to the County season being in progress, a Test series against the WI, TV contract issues and the legacy of the Stanford affair.

It wasnt practical or desired to dump the IPL on the English season. There were just too many red flags and issues to make it not practical. Also the kept the focus on the traditional components of the English season rather than a foreign comp.

Far easier to pass it on to SA that would have less issues of conflicting schedule and seasonal importance.
