It'll only really work in these sorts of conditions or on a green surface, in India, Pakistan or Australia he'd get 7 kinds of **** thumped out him without taking a wicket if given the new ball, well he probably wouldn't get hit that badly but he wouldn't take wickets. The collapse was predictable, basically Smith had to score big if they were to have any chance.

Hmm Dimi generally moves the new ball whatever the conditions. The point is that it's by far the best time to bowl him, so if he's picked that's what he should do. England seem intent on turning him into a middle-overs trundler.

Warner has played in Australia and will not find RSA conditions much different and could be a safer bet in the opening slot with the technically sound Gambhir.
